New mining method

I think we need a new mining method, the drill rig.
The drill rig would be a internal component and would allow mining on asteroids (and planets when/if we can land on them) that you have landed on.
The rig would extract or directly to the hopper of the refinery so you skip the fragment chasing. It would also fill the hopper gradually (like a fuelscoop) and indicate how much (in %) of each ore is left in the drill site.
Maybe the rig could even yield a better total extraction amount of an asteroid due to the more precise extraction method.
In balance terms there are several factors that make laser mining still viable:
  1. The mining rig would take up an internal slot
  2. The rig mining rate could be adjusted to be less than a laser
  3. Landing on an asteroid is hard so actually getting into a mining position would take longer than with laser mining

Auto miners. This was one of the things discussed at the design stage - see this DDA thread. The associated comment is "potentially not for release one" so I don't know where we stand with them.

Not exactly autominers. I'm talking about a ship system that allow you to mine without using the laser. Autominers are deployable equipment that you set up and then go away while it does the work.

Kinda like mining in galaxy on fire 2 but different enough. So you land on the astroid similar to docking onto an outposts, (possibly tricky if astroid is spinning), your gui could overlace a potential landing site on the asteroid. Once landed you activate your mining rig that is self deployed and gets to work. While mining you are basically a sitting duck due to the mining rig taking time to pack up when you are finished, although you could abandon the mining for a quick gettaway and risk loosing your mining rig and causing severe damage to your hull by doing so. This would mean you have to mine in safe space or take friends with you, or hire someone to cover your backside.

Got to admit I am finding the fragment chasing a little annoying but I'm really liking the idea of the mining rig, I really like the idea of landing on asteroids to mine them, having to just sitting there and wait like a duck is the penalty for (in my case poor piloting skills :) ) not using lasers I just don't have much luck chasing fragments that's all. Anyways I'm now going back in game as over the course of writing this my minds been working and I'm now determined to land on an asteroid
