New missions still buggy ?

Just wasted my time doing yet another buggy mission; 'Human Traffic', in which you are supposed to find the target and rescue the hostage.
Found the target, cracked open his cargo hatch and scooped up the 'hostage'. Mission still says Quantity: 0/1 and won't let me hand it in.
Actually, I did this twice (same target appeared a little while later). But the mission is bugged.

I find this the most frustrating thing about Elite Dangerous. The (find someone / something) missions have always been really buggy. OK, Frontier may fix them eventually, but you'd think they would perhaps test these properly before releasing them. Flying around for ages waiting for a target who may or may not show up, is really going to put people off doing these kinds of missions.

And with 'always' you mean 'two weeks'? They're on holiday break, Seems reasonable to me. They didnt exist beforehand ("specific cargo" tag) so all it means is that these new missions come a few weeks later.

I tried asking for a refund on ED even though i'm well over Steams requirement that you havent played the game more than 2 hours. I still tried to get a refund but a lot of people on the Steam forums are telling me to be patient with the game i think. So i havent played for like 3 days and decided to give the game another chance just a few minutes ago. I picked up a "Dangerous Goods" mission. And as usual it didnt tell me what system to go to or how long i had to wait until my contact showed up. No problem i've done a bunch of "Dangerous Goods" missions and i always see that. My plan was to wait for 30 minutes in the system i accepted the mission in flying towards various system and dropping out of supercruise and going back into supercruise. So i accepted the mission at Cleve Hub, i undock and and not even 15-20 seconds later i get a mission failed message. The mission had nothing in the briefing about it failing if i got scanned and my ship wasnt destroyed. Got into supercruise, a pirate wanted to interdict me and mission failed. The interdiction had not even happened yet that the failure message was so fast.

and people are telling *me* to be patient with that?

EDIT: and as if that wasnt bad enough i went back to Cleve to pick up another mission so once i dropped out of supercruise i just throttled to zero while i posted this message. I was 8km out and a police ship decided they wanted to scan me. But of course they decided to ram me too...talk about kicking a guy when he's down.

i played horizons 120 hours. so i dont take missions more :) much time bounty, trade etc. i am hopeful on 2016 first quarter so horizons now early access and we dont get other major updates yet. maybe we should need more patient :p sorry for bad grammar. english is not my main language :)

ehh dont worry about your grammar tursu i understood you fine. I like doing missions though...i dont roleplay but i tend to get immersed. I especially like doing cargo hauling missions as boring as that may sound. But i think those missions, as well as all the others could use a little more variety.

A question for anyone that might know though. But have the devs even acknowledged ANYWHERE like at all that they know about mission bugs and poor mission descriptions and that they are looking into it? like have they said anything on the forums, on dev blogs, twitter, twitch, reddit or anything else? I'd be willing to wait it out if i knew they were looking into it, or what they had planned for a fix. But looking at all these threads complaining about missions and not seeing a single dev or community manager comment on it (unless i've missed them) is part of the reason why i've tried to get a Steam refund.

Also...is there a [suggestion] thread for missions where players have posted about some of the changes they would like to see or what bugs they've been seeing?

Oh no are you the guy who played for Eighty hours and asked a refund?. I was just reading that thread.

If that's you your a legend.

Yup thats me

Spent the first couple of days doing tutorials. Started out doing assassination missions, then switched over to cargo hauling, hostage rescue and packet deliveries. But what i dont get is why people are so hung up on my 80 hours of gameplay. These kinds of bugs arent exactly the kind of things you would find out about in 2-3 hours of gameplay are they? And the way missions are set up its not like you are going right from one objective to another. There's a lot of time spent waiting for npcs to spawn, time spent flying around and whatnot. If you havent done any missions at all or if you do then the next time you run a mission pay attention to how much time you spend waiting. Waiting for a trigger event to occur. Or if you like i can go pick up a mission right now and let you know how much time i spent idle waiting for a pirate to interdict me for my mission cargo or until the mission updated.

EDIT: ohh and also i think that people are fixating too much on my playtime. Like this one person commented (and it was deleted by a mod) about how i have Total War Shogun 2 and have only played it for 50 hours and how i have TW: Rome 2 and played it also for a few hours. And they made some smartass comment about how i should try to get a refund for those too. When really i dont have a lot of playtime on those games because 1) i dont have a lot of SSD space and 2) because i bought those games along with Skyrim to play when i dont have internet since most of the games i play are online games. See that one person fixated just on the fact that my TW: S2 and R2 playtimes that they thought they had me all figured out. I guess the same way all the people are saying "lol 80 hrs :):):):)" are only looking at that number, me wanting to get a refund and i guess them thinking i'm some sort of scammer or something? its like some people didnt even bother to read about my gripes with the missioning system.

Eighty hours seems like a big number, you probably didn't spend 68 of them waiting for NPC's. But good luck in either your refund or enjoying the game.

I dont know the exact count but i've actually had several play sessions where i would afk at a dock looking at the missions every so often to see if they would change and i would have something that i was eligible for. I would be like half asleep my desk, one foot propped up on the desk, covered in a blanket, and one eye half opened looking at the log hehe. When i first started noticing the bug i actually went into this cycle of not playing for a day or two then coming back and trying to give it another chance until i found another bug that would make me stop playing again for yet another day or two. But i'm just to a point right now where the missioning system is annoying the crap out of me and i dont want to deal with it anymore.

I would gladly give up my refund claim if there was just some kind of indication (not directly to me but all of us players) that the devs know about these issues and are working on them. I actually have put together one in depth suggestion of my own on how they could add a bit of variety to the cargo hauling mission. I mean...if i'm willing to put together some stuff like that would it make me seem like the kind of person that will scam Steam/FD out of some money for some game time?

Rest assured they are aware and will fix them. FD staff don't post here that much but they do read the forums and not just the community managers either. It is quiet because of the holidays but I am willing to bet these broken mission types will be a high priority issue for them when the dev team gets back to work.

Just keep posting any new bug you find or filing tickets and then keep an eye on the patch notes forum. We are still on bank holidays in the UK but I wouldn't be surprised if a patch sneaks out in the next 3 working days if not the week commencing the 4th ;)

The most frustrating part is that these missions are the high-influence earners...

High-influence cargo theft missions are just nope, for time vs payoff.
Medium-influence "Kill X of type Y ships" are like hens teeth these days.
Medium-influence mining missions are doable, but it's a pain to switch ships and then go hunting, so suffer the same way as cargo-theft missions.
All the other cargo/deliver fetchquests are low earners and only ones worthwhile, despite the low influence earnings.

I'm honestly not sure what the delay is. Mission-specific is obviously a flag set on cargo to differentiate it from standard cargo (since like-type mission-specific cargos stack in your inventory), so the fix is to turn it off. Two patches later, and there's still a little bool somewhere in the mission template set to True when it should be False...

TY, i went ahead and posted a suggestion thread. I wanted it to be a thread where everybody could post up their own suggestions about how they think the missioning system could be improved. But i doubt anyone will post on my thread so it will probably just end up being my own posts in there hehe.

I havent noticed and i'm not able to get into game right now. But for missions with low credit rewards...do they have high reputation faction rewards? i wonder if thats one way they could improve the reward system. Mission give high credit reward but you get low influence or ranking reward from it OR the mission could have low credit reward but it will have a really high influence and ranking reward.

A refund? Really? Come on, it's not THAT bad! I've got plenty of gripes with this game, believe me, but it's never crossed my mind to refund it. Why would I? I can fly through space, land on moons and drive around on them, learn about the stars that make up the constellations in our real life night sky and go visit them and blow people up along the way. You've got 80 hours entertainment out of a game that cost you less than a night out, that's so far past a bargain it would take months to get there in a fully A rated ASP.

Maybe i'm just bitter after having played games like Wildstar, STO, SWTOR and TSW. Games that seemed to start out strong but ended up failing and switching to F2P. Wildstar was the most recent one for me and when i saw that the devs actually listened i gave tons of feedback, suggestions, reported bugs and even reported a ton of bots. But they *had* to follow their procedures and processes so they were too slow to react with some changes. Its like they knew certain issues exist but they had to follow their timelines and procedures when applying a fix. And by the time the fix came out it was too late.

I just dont want my ED experience end up the same way as all my others...

Anyone noticing that some missions when you look at them at them now at the BB the mission times shown when before they did not? i dont keep up on patch notes and i didnt noticed the game download anything. But i was wondering if they did some fixes within the last day or two to make the mission descriptions more informative. The mission i noticed it on was the one where it doesnt tell me the location just the name of the contact. And i'm supposed to survive in space with some valuable info or whatever that doesnt actually go into my cargo space but it still triggers interdictions from pirates because i have the mission. I did two missions earlier today and this time though the missions had a time on it when i accepted it. Although after i accepted the two missions once it was on my ships mission log the times went away.
