Hi there,
I'd like to suggest a new module.. ;-) to make smuggeling a bit more exciting!
Class I/II/III "Cargo Scrambler"
If you get scanned... the successfull scan is delayed by a certain amount of time (15 sec E Module, 30 sec A Module) ... AND you get an info/timer like the one for hyperspace, so you know how long it will take until they see your precious cargo... furthermore a better cargo scanner might become more important because it can reduce the cargo cloaking time ...
I'd like to have such a module to prevent those ridiculously high fines for smuggeling stolen goods... also I don't want to get rid of those fines... I just want to get a better chance to flee.. ;-)
ALSO the module itselfs is illegal.. so if you got an active cargo scrambler on bord you get a fine defined by the amount of cargo you are cloaking (Module fine: 400cr, cargo of 100 units each 50cr -> 5400 fine for "delaying the scan")
Just to explain the idea again step by step. ;-)
You own a "Cargo scrambler" Class II (A) paid 1 million credits for the module...
Some police scumbag tries to scan you... he gets an alert.. "cargo scrambler" detected... his cargo scanner is not that good, so your scrambler gets you an extra time of about 26 sec until he sees your 100 units of slaves...
So until your time of 26 sec "cargo cloaking" runs out the police scumbag only gives you a fine of 5400cr for the module and the cloaked units...
I hope such a module leads to more interesting pursuits between the police and the player.. and also players...
Summary:
Cargo Scrambler -> "Cloaks your Cargo for a certain amount of time against scans by players and police"
Cargo Scanner -> "A better cargo scanner reduces the time the combatant cloakes his cargo"
Fines -> Standart fine for owning an active cargo scrambler (active = power on) + Cargo units cloaked (50cr * x)
...
So... whats your opinion? :-D
I know this might undermine some other mechanics... so it will be more easy to flee after an interdiction ... but also ... a Pirate could just say "What are you hiding!?" and turn hostile after finding out about your cloaking device. ;-)
