New module proposition

I like to propose a new module or rather an old one because I am sure we had this in either Frontier or F:FE.

Some kind of trade computer that can download market prices when your in a system and stop you schlepping to each station in turn.

Could be linked to the system map and click on a specific station to access its price list

This has been requested since early beta. I'm not sure it's on the road map though, or the route FD intend to take the game.

Hence all the crowd sourcing and other third-party implementations of this. Check our Slopey's BPC for example.

It should only store prices from stations you have visited though. If you can just ask for the best price anywhere in the galaxy that would ruin game play and everyone would all be in the same systems. making it so it only stored info from where you have been encourages exploration.

I think the current system is poorly implemented and don't think there should be a trade computer to make it too easy. Currently you are forced to either write down on pen and paper, use an external tool or have a photographic memory. I currently take screen shots of the systems commodities, then hit the windows key and have the images side by side so I can see clearly what's what.

Suggestion: Display the commodities market prices for up to 6 systems you have visited in the past 24hrs, this data will become invalid after 24hrs and need to be renewed. You can then do everything in game pretty much, as it should be!

I'm fine with the current system. Started trading the other night between 3-4 systems (doing a lot of acquisition missions as well.) I used the system map to get a rough idea of what to trade to start with and after doing a few runs I've got a good idea of who sells what and where I should take it to. Written a couple of notes down that I may forget but it's hardly war and peace and just means being more familiar with the systems I'm travelling in. I've no need to scour the entirety of populated space for the biggest credits per hour as I'm making decent money, enjoying myself and don't care if there's a quicker way as I don't need all the big toys after one month of play in an evolving game.

I feel no need to use a plug in either, just as I feel no need to go straight to gamefaqs every time I get a bit stuck in a game. I don't have any problem with those that do btw.

The only real bug I've noticed is that some systems list exports that they don't actually stock. It's annoying but it's only a minor bug.

I do see the value in trading computers, so long as they don't get any sort of out-of-system updates. Letting them pull trade data locally without docking is probably not too harmful, either. While they'd definitely make some forms of trading easier, they would presumably have to take an internal module slot, cutting into the available cargo space.

I wouldn't be too surprised to hear that FD are thinking in that direction either, though I wouldn't hold out on it coming too soon. We know explorers will be getting "level 2/3" scans (from stats); we've been told that they're considering some gear to assist smugglers; I think it's reasonable to assume most/all the professions will be "levelling up" over time.
