New Monitor to go with DK2 and Civ

Running a setup with 2x 980gtx sc's looking at stepping my monitor up to a higher res than 1080p.
Looking at the Asus PG278Q ROG with G Synq tech.
Anyone know if this is the right way to go with 120 and 144hz or any better suggestions.
Thanks

GTX 980 SC SLI will be more than enough for great 1440p experience. I have 2 780 SCs and that was a great experience when I played around with some 1440p monitors.

TFT Central and Blurbusters.com are great high end monitor resource sites..

If you're in to buy a 27" GSync 1440p It's definitely a nice monitor (I don't have one) but have been waiting at the ready for a good Gsync 1440p with Blur Reduction (ULMB). It is a TN Panel but mind you it not a the normal 6-bit panel but a specialized 8-bit Panel with GREATLY improved color accuracy. TFTCentral review:

The only other 27" 1440p Gsync Panel is the newly released Acer XB270HU which is the first ever 144hz IPS panel with ULMB. Still slower than the ASUS TN panel with 4ms GTG vs 1ms GTG for ASUS ROG TN panel. IPS is inherently slower compared to TN but getting better. The colors are better than TN, but the cons are 4ms GTG and also it is plagued by the notorious IPS Backlight Bleed/Glow in the corners. This is something that I cannot personally live with and have returned my previous IPS panel in favor of my current BENQ. Black backgrounds look terrible with white corner bleed. It is a side effect of the tech so far. ALL IPS monitors have this to some degree (some better than others) unfortunately and depends on whether it is acceptable for you. For me, I WILL NOT deal with IPS for this reason alone. I experienced it with 2 IPS monitors before returning the last one and writing the tech off for me until that is improved upon.

And given that ED is a SPACE game where Black matters more than other games, it is less appealing than ROG IMO.

Here is a review on TFT of the Acer. There will be a list of cons and pros including pics and test results, even examples of the Backlight Bleed/Glow that can be expected.:

I am an eager candidate for the best large screen 1440p Gsync with Blur Reduction and am still on the fence. I am intrigued by some of the curved 21:9 panels and was looking forward to the proposed Acer XR341CKA. The initial news was that it would be 144hz 34" curved, but now it seems it will be 75hz :(

Here's some info on this one in both Gsync and Freesync flavors..

Anyhow, just some info for thought. I hang around both TFT and Blurbusters for news as I wait and wonder whether to just snatch up an ROG now. I may just wait as better 1440p will be on the horizon as incoming 4k desire will undoubtedly force the improvement of current 1440p before we will ever see "acceptable" 4K gaming monitors. The key words is gaming which goes hand in hand with high refresh 120/144, Gsync/Freesync, and Blur Reduction (ULMB, Lightboost, etc). Missing any of these features is a NO GO for me.

If I was forced to choose between the ROG or Predator right this second it would be a no brainier for me. ROG hands down. I just dread possibly going through a few dead pixel returns, before getting a prefect one.
