new on game, some thoughts, group play and exploration.

Hi there,

Last week i bought the game and started playing.

Game is simple to play and my first impression was "Oh My God They made a universe!"

First, i started to do some trade and missions to earn some credits. At this step, i must say that missions and trade needs to be improved, but this is not the purpose of this topic.

After getting some credits, i bought an adder and tried fleet up with friends. I'm not gonna compare it with other games but as an ex Eve online player, there is no co-op playing available!

We made a group, opened a private group game ( so that we can find each other ) than started playing. Manuel fleet jumping is ok, but we cannot even see the same Unidentified Signal Source.

I think co-op play and fleet issues are the first things to be improved.

Than i started exploring, targeted the Pleiades nebula. Sold my guns, sold my shield and got new FSD drive to reach 18-19ly jump range.

And found some interesting thins like
8 stars 1 planets and 1 blackhole ( System Maia )

and a new born star and a lava planet and such.
(can't post pics here :/ )

And now im planning to go the center of milky way after finding a pulsar. But the problem is, i don't know how to return back =). It might take me days to reach center of the Galaxy but hey is there no quick returns?

Also, the route planner is TERRIBLE. And map, why can't we filter types of stars? why can't i search for pulsars only?

Also, will we be able to construct stations and abuse stuff in these unexplored systems?
Will there be alliances rival to NPC alliances?
Cause there is too much space which is not used =).

You make a lot of valid points, and others have said similar things for their new experiences. I think Frontier is working on more cohesive group play as their first real update (other than bug fixes) to the game. It's a multi-player game, and people want to play together - not just play in the same room, at the same time, as it were.

As a side note on your side note, the main thing that Missions needs is just clearer directions on what the heck we are supposed to do. Like "Kill so many pirates, a good place to start is any unidentified signal source" and stuff like that.

And now im planning to go the center of milky way after finding a pulsar. But the problem is, i don't know how to return back =). It might take me days to reach center of the Galaxy but hey is there no quick returns?

Haha, too true! You can start finding your way back by targeting SOL, the home star of the entire Human Race. You'll have to manually plan your return in legs, but yea that should fix the hardest part - finding out which way (generally) is home!

Also, the route planner is TERRIBLE. And map, why can't we filter types of stars? why can't i search for pulsars only?
Not a lot of people would use this kind of feature, so it's probably a lower priority - but good ideas!

Also, will we be able to construct stations and abuse stuff in these unexplored systems?
Not really, because these places probably take Trillions of Credits to construct - they are like GDP Government Purchases, not the kind of thing that a few hundred players would ever be able to amass.

Will there be alliances rival to NPC alliances?
I doubt it, mainly due to scale. Remember that in 3300 we are no longer talking about an earth with it's billions of people - but a galaxy with Trillions of people! A faction, like the federation is probably a trillion people by itself.

Cause there is too much space which is not used =).
Too true, but again it comes to scale. The amount of space that is used is tens (a hundred?) of thousands of human populated systems. Compared to today, where we lowly humans only live on a single planet.

Good feedback!

Wings (groupis) are the first planned release. ETA is early 2015 so probably January/February

This are the Design Discussions archive

So you can see why things work in a way and what is planned to be released/added.

If you check in the forums there are a lot of guides for newbies but anything just ask away, the forum is very helpful

The game is gonna grow but right now it's already almost all I ever wanted from a galaxy simulator with the Elite brand

Hope you and your friends have fun!

PS Someone found Voyager 2, exactly where it should be in the year 3300
And if you want to have fun, get the unupgraded sidewinder and try getting too close to a star in Supercruise. Superfun (when you manage to get away and save your skin that is)!
