New Owners of Elite Dangerous title - Read this first

Hello commanders,
Given the current situation and uncertainty [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] about the future of our game, i decided to be proactive and create this quick guide if someone becomes the new responsible for the Elite Dangerous title's development.
It is based on my solely opinion but i hope you can all feel represented on the general level

Well, congratulations. Now all hope is lost. Please have mercy and shut down the servers, make a cool farewell video (the community can do it for free if you want) and let Elite remain a good memory in our lives. As painful as it sounds, it is way less suffering than seeing its soul slowly fade into a money cow.
The message ends to you here.

We have to start with, THANKS!

Thanks for the interest. We are happy that you are investing in this title that is so important to all of us. Elite Dangerous has been a forgotten rusting jewel. We know that you share the space cowboy spirit we all carry and be assured we can help you turn this title into the amazing product it's always mean to be since we started crowdfunding it in 2014.

My first consumer tip is: do not try to reinvent the wheel.
Spend the first year just fixing the game. Get a good team that is willing to play this game and learn what it is about so they can fix its current features. Those are great, just broken and unbalanced like a bicycle that fell off a cliff with a heavy guy on it. I promise you that with fixed features the amount of players will naturally grow back to its prime, you won't even need to spend much in marketing, a good product is advertised by its customers and our commander network has the quitters one click away. They have not killed the hope in their hearts.

There's a Salvation guy in the current game lore, you could be confused with him, imagine that.

Second tip, communicate with us:
After this first year, you'll have gained our trust and our money back, proving that you're serious about Elite Dangerous. You also have a solid foundation to build new features on, so... time to sail! Your CM team is vital and must have constant contact with us, specially BEFORE spending time $$$ in new development projects. Why? Because Elite Dangerous is a community driven title, WE fill the galaxy, WE make it fun and WE pay for it. Believe otherwise and you'll be failing the same way your predecessors did.

And you could easily get lost among the many ideas that can improve the galaxy, like platform crossplay, full VR support, ship interiors (and its related game loops), player-made bases/stations, lore development, new planetary features, QoL improvements, new engine/api and so on, so working with the community will help you get an assertive sense of priority.

Bonus tip, give the community a space:
This game relies on many community made tools, EDSM, INARA, EDDB, EDAstro etc, community iniciatives/groups such as the Fuel Rats, Hull Seals, DSSA, Canonn Science, content creators as ObsidianAnt, Yamiks, D2EA, CMDR Buur, Exigeous, Ghost Giraffe, Sepulcher Geist, Hawkes Gaming, why not bring all this people into streams and interviews, work in colaboration with them, hear their feedback, get help expanding the lore? We may differ in the details but we all want the same as you, Elite Dangerous to thrive.

Well, this is it. What is important must remain simple. No rocket science. Our currency is fun and if we get ours you get yours, cheers to a healthy relationship with customers!

No mention of Drew Wegar?

Shocking stuff but I hope the new Owners MicroCent have mercy on us.

Great post. +9^999.

The players created this game, then it got taken away - the game took its own direction. Which - I felt - wasn't in the original spirit of the funding in the first place.

Disclaimer: I LOVE this game. I played EDO to bits and loved it. But the players could have been listened to just a little bit more. As you said, it is us that populates this amazing vista of space.

Not more I can say. Such a beautiful game with such a promising picture looking forward if the right paths - with the right company - FD or not - are willing to take.

I would rather frontier bought CIG. Could you imagine the screaming that would go on in the SC reddit and forum? 1/10 the bugs with 1/4 the innovation.

I don't think the Internet could handle such a shock.
That'd be the equivalent of shutting down CornHub.
But that would be an interesting aspect: ED bringing in 100s of new ships and assets. New ground vehicles. Ship interiors.

Anyway: great post OP.
I think there is really something in the bushes, which would explain the radio silence from everyone at FDev. Fingers crossed it's not 10cent buying it.
Maybe it's CIG buying it?

What? Wait, Frontier sold Elite?

No way, I'm not done yet. I have not even tried Open Mode.

I want to speak with David Braben, right now!

Anyone have Frontier's number?
