Hi CMDR,
We know in Odyssey, we will have APEX as a "space taxi service"
and for the first time, other CMDR or our friend will able to board our ship, physically
So, instead of only maximum crew of 2, how about add a new module similar to passenger cabin, which can carry other personnel, not as bridge crew?
Introducing "personnel deploy cabin"
WHY?
So we able to carry dozen of friends (not so much maybe half dozen?) to a new place in single ship.
Able to carry more marine soldiers when assaulting a surface settlement.
Make more player interaction with each other, other than shooting each other.
A big ship like Anaconda or beluga liner can only carry 3 players a time is stupid.
Make ship like Federal Dropship(or even DBS?) useful, integrated with this "personnel deploy cabin", and don't use up internal optional slot.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN CREW PLAYER AND PASSENGER PLAYER?
Crew player sit in the bridge, they can operate ship weapons and modules, crew amount limited by crew seat.
Passenger player sit in the "personnel deploy cabin", they can't operate ship related module, passenger amount limited by how many "personnel deploy cabin" is installed.
Once landed, both crew player(physical) and passenger player can change to foot and walk outside, attack a settlement, explore, as you wish.
During flight, both crew player(physical) and passenger player can choose to "abort" from ship, they will return to nearest or last station they docked. In Lore, they take the escape pod back to station.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN NORMAL PASSENGER CABIN AND "PERSONNEL DEPLOY CABIN"?
Normal passenger cabin carry only NPC passenger, from passenger mission.
Personnel deploy cabin carry player (or even NPC mercenary troop we can hire, hey a new idea), which have smaller capacity to store personnel's equipment.
WHAT TO SEE DURING THE FLIGHT?
Since ship interior not a thing during Odyssey launch, so I think the best choice for Passenger player now, is 3rd person view (similar to multicrew gunner). Free to operate camera suit.
Feel boring? Just abort from ship, send you back to nearest or last station you docked. But hey, you won't able to transfer back to the ship you left.
WHAT IF PASSENGER PLAYER LOGOUT?
They still occupied the Personnel deploy cabin seat, and will back to the ship when login.
Unless pilot CMDR drop passenger player at station.
OR
Before logout, passenger player can choose whether he is able to be drop at any place or station only.
GAME BALANCE
Yeah, that's something need to figure out, the maximum number of passenger player (or NPC mercenary) a ship can carry.
I have zero idea for now.
This is it for now, will add if anything new come out.
