PvP New Pilots Federation Bounty

Last CG i was pirating with a friend. So doing the ole piracy routine, we pulled out a harmless python, scanned it and kindly asked for a few tons of his precious cargo. So he probably did not know how to use the chat interface, he did not drop any cargo resulting in getting some hatch breakers incoming from us.

That turned him angry it seems and he started to attack. Busy with collecting the loot i was asking him to stop that. He did not comply and the pretty thin shields on my piracy clipper dropped after a while. So i turned around and killed the poor trader, didn't expect his hull and shields being so weak.

So, now i have a pilots federation bounty of 10000 credits for 7 days and i am wanted galaxy wide. Get interdicted from ai's in every system and even get attacked while trying to dock stations if security is scanning in every system except anarchy.

Question is, is this working as intended? i have no problem with that, life as a criminal was always interesting but i thought this bountys are only valid around that system where the fun happened? [smile]

A new mechanic was introduced with 2.4. The "Pilots Federation Bounty". It acts exactly as you say, on top of the local murder bounty. The new bounty is specific to destroying a player's ship. Destroying an NPC will continue to only have the local bounty. In short: Yes, it's working as intended.

P.S. Clearing your bounty via a Suicidewinder will not reduce your re-buy. You now have a persistent cost associated with the price of the ship you used in the attack, that is assessed with your destruction.

It feels strange typing this without a sarcastic undertone, but as Mohrgan says; "Working as intended."

As a new player, this is good to hear. I want to fly in open all the time, and at times as a pirate or PVPer, but to think gankers have no issue and skip to another system and dock up was a bit silly. After all, we can go FTL between systems, but the FEDs can't keep inter-system bounties straight?

This + making all Powerplay interactions require you to be in open would = mucho fun!

This is awesome how it works now!

New ways to play the game are coming with this and makes the life of a criminal play-style more difficult, a good thing.
Before 2.4 i was in Mobius and Solo only, now i fly in Open again and the trolling/ganking/griefing is gone for me at the moment.

So the trader took offence at you stealing "his stuff"... and you kill him, acquire a bounty and state ^^
/Cackles maniacally

Well now...you know that the crime and punishment system works :p

Welcome to the world of the wanted criminal... the next thing you'll be paying for sightseeing tours :p, sorry i had to say it :p

Sucks to be you, but then, meh you killed some poor trader... My view is your guns, your itchy trigger finger, your bounty...deal with the consequences of your actions!
Oh and the suicidewinder will not help... well, yea it will lower your cred balance(aka the rebuy of your ship that you killed the dude in), but the bounty will remain, and then become a legacy one.. be careful you don't reactivate it, or it is back to square one, with a larger bounty!

Fly safe, and don't kill trader players!

Think this bounty system will need a little bit more work but is step in the right direction. Anyway sounds interesting with the amount of heat you get from NPC in security systems. The bounty levels don't make much sense to me or rebuy system or for that matter the 7 day wanted period. 10k credit for a python is a bit of a joke. Better to have the bounty amount linked to the cost of the destroyed ship and your "wanted" status determined by you reputation for various powers and factions (also for PF when brought in ). Doing "work" to improve you reputation suspends the bounties, this will give players the opportunity to manage their own playing styles. Hopefully PvP bounty hunting could be viable and interesting in the future, this will give some protection to the traders, just as long as there is something in it for the pirates.

It's getting even better, today i had to pay for my sins.

Was in my cash-beluga doing passenger missions. While i was trying to dock at a land base the cops detected my pilot's federation bountys and opend fire at me. Haven't flown the beluga in a long time so the power priority’s wasn't set right. I tried to escape, pressed the wrong button combination and instead of chaffing the stupid whale deployed it's hardpoints. That disabled the thrusters then and i crashed into the ground. The cops had no mercy with my passengers and finished me off.

13M rebuy and some 150+ poor ai-souls in my economy seats lost, as a direct cause of my criminal activity’s.

You know, i play this game for almost 2 years now, have all the big ships a-speced and g5 engineered, but I still enjoy every minute of it. Have robbed hundreds of commanders but finally it has a meaning with this new mechanics, feels like you are a real ciminal now :D
This is an awesome game!

chuckle me wet with banana sandwiches!

"excuse me sir, i would kindly request you refrain from attacking me at this moment in time. The light reflection is making it rather difficult to scoop your belongings".

Don't you think it was kind of rude to shot at me while i was liberating all the cargo? But thinking twice about it, you maybe have a point there ;)

Sounds like fun mate. I would personally like it if PF bountys weren't dealt with by system security, it should be a matter for the Cmdrs. If you were wanted in by faction or power that would be fair enough but the principle is good i think.

Sounds great, just to confirm this applies only if you kill clean CMDR?

Actually I like that NPC are also hunting you since PVP interaction apart from CG systems can be a bit unlikely...

This seems to make life for a pirate interesting/miserable depending on you point of view of course :)

Just for immersion, NPC police should not chaise you i Anarchy systems, but NPC bounty hunters should :)

So does this apply between Powerplay PVP? For example 2 people who are clean but from opposing factions happen into the same system and fight to the death... The winner gets a Pilots Federation bounty as a 'reward' for killing an enemy?

No, Powerplay enemies were supposed to be excluded. But no idea if it works, no one reported on it :)

On a side note, the new system has another effect, Maia/Palin's is hell now, cause it's anarchic and popular, a lot of gankers relocated there. It was always dangerous but now... The sky is full of... FDL's an Anacondas! :D

Stations don't fire at ships just for being wanted, they normally don't even rescind docking permissions.

They probably should, but they don't, and getting scanned while wanted usually just means a couple of security red shirts shoot you in the back as you land.

You are probably right.
But regardless, having a bounty system or galaxy wide means NOTHING to even a semi engineered ship.

The stations will fire on you if you get scanned. And it isn't "nothing" because it does get annoying, but it isn't anything serious.

Does make looking for high grade emmissions even more a pain in the .
