Good video, should help new players.
Little tip for you.
After your done fighting in the conflict zone, and retracted weps looking to bug out, put the energy full into shields, and 2 pips into engine.
Then when you boost, as you already do, you go flight assist off which will maintain your max speed, but also you will have max shields.
Had you done that when escaping the pirate, chances are good you would have taken zero damage.

little but: I think, well if I remember well, you do not start in station docked, but outside around 10-15 km off the station. (that's how I remember it). Then I struggled a bit with the docking request I couldn't find ^^
Also, docking is granted it seems, once you're under 10km of distance ^^
