I am considering a free carrier trip to no where for any pilot who wants to go explore and doesn't have a long range ship and/or the credits to get one. I envision this; Leave the bubble, and jump 2000ly in the carrier. Remain there for 24hrs and allow the pilots to explore the surrounding systems, never too far away from a safe landing spot (the carrier). Then at say 12:00 in game time or whenever we jump another 2000ly and remain for another 24hrs. Rinse and repeat until we arrive at the destination, wherever that is. Details to be determined. Destination to be determined. The carrier will have refuel/repair/restock/uni-cartographics. I am thinking of setting up discord so announcements can be made to the group as necessary as well. Is this something that people would be interested in? Please reply so I can get an idea how many (if any) would be interested. For those pilots concerned about getting ganked out in the black the route would not be published. Thus avoiding any gankers trying to shadow the carrier looking for easy kills. Over all, I am thinking around a 3 week trip out and back. Just some early spit-balling for what could be a fun exploration trip. Any constructive thoughts appreciated.
I'll tell you why you won't get anyone joining you.
There was an... Incident, early this year, that eventually saw the players responsible for deceiving a number of newer players banned.
Basically they had them dock a carrier, and then jumped to a system that their ships could not leave owing to short jump range. What's more, they wouldn't let them leave via the carrier.
In effect, these newbies were forced to mine for the people running the Carrier, getting them profits and the newbies getting nothing but the suggestion they might be allowed a trip back.
This whole incident hit the gaming headlines for a bit and eventually, FD banned the players, as well as Discord following the people running the Carrier also being found to run a rather vile Discord server.
Basically, you're offering a whole lot of vague promises that I would actively warn against, so honestly, thank goodness you're cancelling it.
Consider this a warning if you were in fact planning on trying to trick players, because it can get you banned, as was seen earlier this year. It has been made clear that type of "gameplay" (it is not gameplay, it's just being a jerk and leaving people with no means to escape beyond self-destruct. So much for an "immersion", eh?), is not allowed.
