New planets coming right...?

Yes, it remains to be seen how much more variety there will be in both planet types that can be approached and what will be found on them though.

Hopefully more varieties of life persistent POI to add to the codex.

What are you hoping to find?

I kinda assumed that the Metal Rich & High Metal Content worlds would essentially be unlocked for landing and that they would be our new landable Odyssey worlds and that they would be the light atmos planets. Maybe a small Galnet narrative that.....

'Steralization of an individual ship through the station force fields was now upto government terraformable standards and NPC and Pilot federations pilots were no longer classed a bacterial threat to the planets. Should these protocols hold over the coming months and years further planetside landings will be unlocked in the NavComm units"

For starts.... ill just be delighted to see the blue line around a planet with atmosphere on the system map that says i can LAND THERE. I have been playing so long now that even that will take getting used to.

That being said, I do believe we will note a emersion difference with the new planet types, regardless of the lack of a significant biome change

I have a suspicion they will surprise us with some planet additions, lava maybe?

OMG! I just realized...one planet out there, among those 400 billion stars, might be the one that has

SPACE HERPES!!!

It was an ice planet, wasn't it?

I'd love it if they included a lava world or two in that category.

The only life we know of so far on these planets is plant life that you can take samples of and become Elite in. I'm not expecting there to be a lot more but who knows? This is apart from the NPCs at the land outposts, of course.

I wonder if life (which I assume will include microbial life too) will have an impact on atmosphere hue and saturation and terrain colour. Or whether they will be slightly randomised to add variation to the pre-defined atmosphere models.

Like different shades of green? :p

There was a time, this was all we could talk about and could not wait for new planets to arrive,

Tenuous atmosphere or not, Is this not new exploration content in and of itself?

If the drip feed of Odyssey information would accelerate, I suppose we’d know. I’m starting to fear that all of the gameplay elements of Odyssey have been discussed already and they are shallow in their implementation. Not sure why at this point in the game’s development they wouldn’t be promoting more features from the game itself rather than just talking about it... unless the features aren’t very impressive.

We've had some interesting screenies of some of the re-modeled surfaces.. I'd put my hand up and agree that they appear to be presenting us with some new exploration content in those alone.

Shallow is harsh .. it'll be Version 1.0 because in the end, that's exactly what it is.

The new planet tech looks good to me but it's not a drastic leap from no atmosphere (sometimes with mists) to tenuous (almost no) atmosphere. I am looking forward to the exobiology, I really like the space based phenomena but even though we're getting some, I don't think new planets is what Odyssey is mostly about.

To clarify: there won't be any "new planets", in terms of a currently-nonexistent planet suddenly popping into existence. Stellar Forge won't allow that. It will be currently-non-landable planets becoming landable, just like what happened when Horizons launched.

And I doubt we'll get lava worlds in an early iteration of Odyssey. Lava is a form of liquid, and any surface liquid (water, ammonia, lava, others) is difficult to model realistically. Then there's the question of what our ships would do if we try to land on the lava/water/etc. Float? Sink? Spontaneously explode?

Why has no body mentioned any kind of new flight entry mechanics for tenuous atmospheres.
nothing in the Q & As.
Early odyssey speculation was nothing but talk about atmospherics. Since the reveals I think an important aspect of play and immersion has been forgotten about.
time to remind FDEV.
