Newcomer / Intro New player, disappointed.

I would suggest to trade enough to get a Viper. If you can hold off, trade up to a Type 6, then keep trading to get a Cobra.

The trade way to get any ship is to start in a Hauler, Trade yourself into a type 6, then a Type 7. Trade up to either a Python or Type 9. Then trade in either ship and get your hearts desire fighter at that point.

RES's have now become profitable, so if you want to fight your way up then start in a Viper and make your money up to a Vulture. Whatever you decide, make sure its something you will want to do for a few weeks (shorter if you have more time).

I'll make it pretty short because it's a pretty simple question. This game seems no different than Euro Truck Simulator in Space, with the occasional event of being car jacked by robbers (space pirates). On top of that, I'm in the online world and I have yet to see any other living soul and I have been around a few light years It feels like.

Is my comparison spot on or is it off? Im praying that it's off because I thought this game was something else entirely and am currently extremely disappointed to have supported it.

Thanks for your time.

It really depends. If you head to more populated areas, you will see more people. However, the galaxy really is massive and once you get off the beaten path, even just 10 lys the population thins out.

This is not like a regular MMO...the map is huge, the instancing further complicates meeting people (due to the peer to peer nature of the game), etc. Meeting people in Open can be a very rare experience. I always suggest that you try to find an Open playing group of people and join up and learn the ropes from them.

But really, why would anyone do that to themselves? If your goal is to be a fighter, why would you spend all those mind-numbing (for fighters at least!) hours in all those trade ships going back and forth like a human bot? It takes a stupid ammount of time, and when you finally get your fighter after hundreds of hours you'll have zero skills. Here's what I would do:

1) Do some missions in your Sidewinder for an hour
2) Get an Eagle
3) Fight

You'll easily progress to a Vulture and when you get there, you'll actually know how to use it and be able to appreciate the ship. Just do what you want to do and have fun, credits will come your way no matter what.

You do not have to..it was only a suggestion. However, up until 1.2 the only way to make money quickly was to trade. Now with Resource Extraction Sites, there is a fighting option. Personally, I would still trade my way up to a Viper, Cobra, or Vulture...as I think the creds/hour would still be the quicker route, meaning less time in the grind. Also with a trader in your pocket the losses of insurance as you learn are easily overcome. As anything within this game, your mileage will vary.

Keep your eyes open for community goals or try your hand at trading along the busier routes (such as the rare routes) or move to the bigger systems such as sol, Achenar, lave etc. There are plenty of people out there but you have to know where to look. Also how about joining a group and linking up with some of the members?
