Newcomer / Intro new player, my one and only criticism

I think you've completely missed my point.
With turrets set to target only, a red ship (ie hostile to you) attacking you, you must target him in order to do even a passive scan. The instant you target a red ship your turret will shoot him and because you haven't yet scanned him (fully) you get a wanted status.
If you run turrets and have not yet encountered this i'd be very surprised, whilst hunting in a RES eventually you will get a wing of red ships baying for your blood, yet you can't defend yourself even though they are pirates without getting a fine and therefore a 'wanted' status.

OK, sorry - yes I did originally misunderstand you. I have indeed been involved in similar situations - usually when taking out a legitimate target whose wingmen then turn upon me. I have found it best to hit 'K' (next hostile) and then - if they are not already showing 'Wanted' after firing upon me - very quickly deselect as a target to stop your turrets auto response until you can fully scan. Of course, there may be others out there with better solutions.
Take care.

I'll give you all the help you ask or need... this is a request for a game mechanic change... you do understand the difference??????

This subject has been beaten to death... to get a fine you have to hit

a) a unshielded friendly

b) cause enough damage to the shielded friendly to bring it down and hit his hull

c) fire upon a un scanned ship (firing to early)

Now what help do you need ?

I suspect none at all ... and your comments about snarky is just a throw away sneaky way of drawing attention to a hand being smacked.... just use "the report this post" button ... bottom left next to the "rep" toggle

now ... have a nice week :)

Oh I get that man. For me it's all about trial and error. I picked this game up last Tuesday. I love it! I'm learning the ins and out of the game, and I don't mind learning through hard knocks. What gets me is when players who have been playing this since alpha, and have developed a knack for this game, put brand new players down for asking questions, or making suggestions. Games like this are really cool, and can have an awesome community, but when people stomp on new players, and their ideas or comments, it's really tasteless. Instead of putting the OP down for asking his question, or making his suggestion, you could have placed a link in your comment, letting him know that this subject has already been touched on. Even if you feel like this has been covered a million times; new players will come in an touch on it. It's better to lead new players to the right outlets than crap on them. That's all I'm saying man.

Keep the subject of your posts to the Op and not any other poster. Thanks.
