New player

Hi everyone. Just got the this game 3 day's ago and I'm hooked. Now I'm new to Elite Dangerous but being a older gamer i have played all the Elite games.

I had never heard of Elite back in the 80's. I was a Owner of a Amstrad CPC 464 and use's to get a monthly magazine called Amstrad Action. On there 100th issue the gave away a cassette with the full game of Elite. Then a few years later i had a Amiga A500 and got Elite 2 Frontier and lost many weeks of sleep lol

Now i have Elite Dangerous I'm starting to get the same feelings i got so many year's ago. I have read so many post's (On elite's facebook page) that people dont like it or it's to hard and not much is explained. Me.....I love the fact it doesn't hold your hand while you play. I'm still what you call a noob but I'm having so much fun, And fun it want gaming is all about. I love the graphic's, The sound and the atmosphere.

Now i know no dev's will read this but just in case one does i wanna say a MASSIVE thank you. Your game is gonna keep me coming back for along time.

I play on the Xbox One and my Gamer Tage is Oo Nizmo oO. If any fellow Elite players wanna add me then please feel free.

Sorry about the long post. Just had to join in the fun.

Good hunting everyone.

Welcome aboard cmdr! its great to read new players posts, happy to hear the game has captured your attention once again, you are so correct about the fun part it is exactly what it is all about. good luck out there and remember you need any help dont hesitate to ask. the forum crew are the Bee's Knee's. :D

Welcome! If you ever need any help give me a pm on here or on the xbox. You could also click the signature for the group thread for new players. See you around!

Welcome to the black, Commander, and welcome to the forums! If you think your voice will be missed by the Devs, you'll be sorely disappointed. We have Senior Producers, Community Managers, Volunteer Moderators, Quality Assurance, Tech Support, and more here all the time. They check in on us all the time, in their own words, "Maybe too much"!

I never experienced Frontier/Elite in the old days. Way before my time. But I'm still amazed by what they were able to achieve then with such limited data capacity. Hope you continue to enjoy the game and come to us here when you need help. Space may be dangerous but your reputation with us here is "Allied". :)

++Greetings, respected ally++

Actually, you'd be surprised. FDev brass do indeed read & post, usually through one Mr. Gary Richards. It's one of the things I like about this place.

Anyway, congrats on picking a great game, although your social life may now be in grave peril :p

See you out there O7

Welcome, newcomer! I also like how Elite: Dangerous doesn't hold your hand, either. And in fact if you make enough mistakes you can honestly wind up nearly all the way back at square one. Games that punish you for your mistakes make you feel so much better when you finally begin to master them (or at least learn how to survive in them). Another upside is this tends to weed out the people who are all "LOL Y NO LEET 360 NOSCOPES" so you wind up with an amazing community. Or at least the majority of it anyway.

Anyway welcome to the game and welcome to the forums.

Wow, Thanks for the warm welcome. Never been on a forum where everyone is friendly and welcoming. Thanks everyone, I'll here for the long haul ;)

Welcome aboard, CMDR! o7

...I wonder if Nizmo knows about Horizons? :D If not, that'll be one Hell of a surprise!

Welcome Commander! Good luck in your endeavors. Just to throw it out there. (Now a word from our sponsors) If you need help getting your bearing, many fine folk at Lidpar will lend a hand. If you get caught without fuel, call on the Fuel Rats. (www.fuelrats.com) If exploration is your thing, get in touch with The First Great Expedition. (www.firstgreatexpedition.org). Enjoy! I agree with OP.. glad to see a resergance in the space sim.. the old 80s and 90s games were good (and took alot of patience and imagination) but now with updated graphics and the same ability to challange gamers instead of 'holding their hands' is very much welcome. Atleast people are starting to realise that space sims are not dead there is a lot of money to be made and not just for PC owners either.. next is time for the RTS resurgance (hopefully) after the shambles that C&C turned into and even Rtw2

Peace out CMDRs
