Hi all the Discussion is hot in the other Thread, but the poll is closed.

So i would like to start another Poll to figure out your meaning now short before release. Also I would like to give other choose options that were discussed in the other Thread.

Edit:
"Hey Guys,
i know the answers are a bit from a pro external view sight ;-) but dont take it that serious, look at it with a piece of fun.
About option 1 it is hard descripted, but finally it is like this when a person dont want that this feature gets in the game then nobody else will have the feature, so the description is hard but true.
I just wanted to see how people think right now about this feature when release is near.
The other Poll is from February 2014 and closed for voting now.

For me personally i would be happy if i could switch in a view and have there no cockpit no hud nothing just the wide universe in front of me -> screenshots
I dont want to fly around in third person from behind."

Voted "Yes - but just when its limited that it can't be used in fights", but would be ok with "Yes - I want it everytime also in fights" when it is limited to Solo mode!

Drones for me, they also open up a whole plethora of other uses that are actually useful in gameplay (recon/patrol/exploration), so the implementation will have added value.

No, First person perspective games are the best, and while I'm playing with trackir all the time - its the best immersion

I just don't care,
would be a nice addition for external screenshots, but on a priority scaling i'd give it the lowest.
I prefer the cockpit, my eagle immerses me, and i want to see the debris scratch my canopy.

Those who don't want external views in combat, just what advantage do you think it would actually give people? Personally I'd like to be able to use external views in combat but I'd only do so in a fight I was going to win anyway because I'm pretty sure switching to an external view in combat would only put me at a disadvantage. The only advantage I can think of is the ability to look behind you, but then the scanner shows me where my targets are anyway so I already know where they are. So given that I already have that information and switching views would cause disorientation and the loss of my HUD, it seems to me that the ONLY gain is cosmetic. The simple joy of viewing a space battle from outside looking in. Viewing my ship delivering the last deadly shots on target, or watching as a I corkscrew away till I can activate my hyperspace engines.

*Edit* As a side note, how exactly is external views unbalanced in combat but head tracking tech isn't?

I would really like to see my ship when doing some sightseeing around tha galaxy and watch everything in its full glory, otherwise i don't think a 3rd person view is neccesary.

People are just saying not during fights because they don't play flight sims. There is no advantage, it's actually a disadvantage so no need to disable it. Fight in 3rd person view= watching yourself get wrecked! End of discussion.

I really don't see how a third person view would be of benefit in combat anyway.

If it was fixed to rotate around a point in the centre of your ship to a limited distance with marginal panning options to fine tune a screen shot it would be practically useless, especially if there was no automatic controls.

The scanner shows you if a ship is behind you, it doesn't identify what kind of ship it is.

Hypothetical... I am happily mining away, whistling while I work, and I get attacked by pirates. I somehow manage to escape the initial onslaught, put some distance and rock between them and I, slow to a dead stop when I am hidden well enough, and switch silent running on in the hope they find other prey in the meantime. Unfortunately, the pirates switch to 3PV. One of them can see a bit of my ship poking out that they couldn't have seen in 1PV, and I am toast.

Alternatively, I am hiding out, I switch to 3PV and now I can see when the ships looking for me have switched targets and headed off, or when there is an opportunity for me to try and sneak further away.

Now, those are specific scenarios, but they are possible, and both present reasons why I think 3PV is a bad idea during combat.

Despite the fact nobody is doing it now ....as soon as a 3rd person view is implemented, everyone would want to be stealth ninjas and sneak up behind other players and 3rd person might make that harder !

I greatly adore third person view. Whether it's as simple as pressing a button or having it per drones / on a monitor in the ship, I barely care. If you aren't given a good HUD in third person, fighting with it is, as pointed out above, indeed suicide if under attack. Sure, you could throw a swift look at where the enemy is, but that's what the radar tells you too, anyway.

Limit it to Solo mode, et voila!!! No problem...

Plenty of hours in Falcon 3.0, 4.0, some ROF, IL 2 Sturmovik, DCS world and more.

In modern jet combat, it really isn't a problem, but in WW2 fighter modules for DCS world, it already is problematic due to spotting. Moreover, it's not really possible to sit still behind a rock in the sky and peek around it.

ED isn't a full fledged sim, it's the middle ground between a sim and an arcade game (unless you call war thunders arcade mode a sim), so it would be easy enough to fly from a third person perspective.

Third person mode would also entirely negate aspects of cockpit design, which are an inherent part of the gameplay as it stands now.

I'm all for beautifull scenery shots, combat footage with completely free camera positioning, flyby fameras and all that - but only accessible as recorded flight data after docking, never in real time.

Voted yes - everytime.

I'd be ok with solo only, but ideally, all the time is what makes sense. As it has been said numerous amount of times, it gives no advantage at all in combat, pure speculative moves excepted.

You could conceivably find a way to use 3PV in solo mode to rack up more NPC kills in combat zones by swooping your POV around to find easy meat quickly, thus rising through the ranks faster than in open. In open play you would have to turn your ship to face the potential targets to find out what type of ships are surrounding you. That takes longer and involves more risk.

(I don't really care for the arguments for or against, I still prefer drones for other reasons as I stated previously.)

Hmm, currently the missing external views totally negate the beautiful exterior ship design, especially the payable skins. Why pay for a skin you can't see?

Who would actually force you to use the external view button? You could even just not map it to a key... Problem solved!

I'm a dedicated DCS World Pilot myself and I can't see any "unfair" advantage from an external view unless you can pause the game and move around the plane... if you just glance in external for a second or longer you lose situational awareness or even wreck the plane if pulling to hard etc.
If I would consider "boosting" through an asteroid field in external... well, those rocks are pretty massive, aren't they?
