Rather than posting all the numerous links here, I would direct you to the subreddit (my signature). Its sidebar contains a large array of information, including player groups, communication channels, and a "Wing Finder" on which you can find other other CMDRs whose active times match with yours. The general assumption with the wing finder is that those who list themselves want to meet people, so you just look them up ingame, add them, and chat them up. It's also likely the best place to ask & find out how best you can help.
