new rift user

New Rift user here, after all the kafuffle of actually getting Elite to get going (I thought it would be a case of popping on my headset and away you go). I have redeemed my key and its now installing. Now my question is this, is this a new Commander or is it carried over to VR. I am going to mega *d off if its new as I have just finally unlocked Elite Trading and now on 16% Pioneer. Also this account has the lifetime pass which means if its a new one it will have nowt.

TIA

You can just use your existing install - no need to reinstall Elite in home. To answer your question; Both your commander save and your game configurations / binds will be carried over to the home version (it uses the same files).

Yes, I finally got in and saw. Thanks anyway.

So my next question(s), along with many others is how many sat there just looking, I mean SERIOUSLY!!!!. From the opening menu, the SRV as just mahoosive, and that Eagle..LOL. (I cannot wait to see just how big my Cutter is going to look).

Now on to navigating the Gal map, just how is it done now? I have relied on mouse and keyboard so far but if I just so much as slip the Rift off then it more or less locks up, which means no more alt-tabbing in Inara/EDDB etc.

as a new user im also lost with the galaxy map.
I've set a few keybinds, but honestly, i dont know what half of them are supposed to do.
I wouldnt mind someone that uses an X52 posting how they've set it up.... I have asked a few times and watched a few videos where people talk about how they did it "bind lateral to your axis and tab with the hat and etc etc" but none of them have actually shown you some keybindings to help it make sense (and yeah, i only ever used the mouse before, so most of my default bindings are probably wrong).

Your cmdr save is stored on the frontier servers so as long as you use the same login and don't delete your save in game there is no worry.
