So Odyssey seems to be shifting a lot of focus on to small sized ships. And it's prompted me to think of a new ship idea. Lakon's only small pad ships are the Diamondbacks. They've got nothing in the sub-150t range.
Proposing,
The Lakon Taipan Scout
A small pad, 50-100 tonne combat focused craft. Extremely maneuverable, fast and light, but also packing a decent punch. It would come with two medium hardpoints, two utility mounts and around 180 base hull, 120 base shields. It would be more focused around the use of powerful fixed weapons like railguns and PAs, with the power output focused toward using these weapons with a more hull-focused defence style.
Aesthetically, I'd imagine something slightly larger than a sidewinder, with the shape and profile similar to the Taipan SLF. As a result, internals would be relatively limited, being mostly size 1-2 compartments, with a size 3 optional available for shields. Core internals would be a middle ground between the small slots in a sidewinder, and larger internals in the Vipers. Example size 3 Thrusters, 3 FSD (resulting in a better loaded range than the Vipers, around 25ly upgraded range) 1 life support and sensors, and size 2 powerplant and distributor.
I'd be keen to hear feedback on this idea (maybe someone draw a concept?) And maybe some other ship ideas? The game definitely seems to want more small ships.
