Ship kits are quite nice and add a good customisation option. How about we get an option of changing the ship's canopy as well? As a separate ship kit. For example: a canopy for Python without the bar obscuring the view. Or uniform canopy for the Clipper and Cutter, without support struts. Or more covered and rugged looking canopy for the AspX / other Lakon ships.

That'd be nice, though I don't mind mine being full of scratches and dusty in most (if not all) of my ships.
Yeah, that's sort of why I bring it up. Raider kits are really cool because they are the only ones that allow you to change the view you have from the cockpit. I have raider kits for Anaconda and Python (not that I use them, I got them for the rusty paint jobs) and what I have noticed is that FD could use similar system to allow further visual customisation of the ships. Current ship kits allow to add stuff on top of the generic look of the vessels, but perhaps it would be possible to use them to improve existing designs by replacing some bits. Like canopy in case of Python or Imperial ships - nothing horribly wrong with those, but there's some room for improvement. You could get canopies without elements obstructing the view, you could get canopies in a more military, rugged style or you could get slightly tinted glass. Arguably, it's probably much easier to cover the canopy or change its tint than totally replace it.
