New ships.

Might be a daft question but here goes. When you buy a new ship, does it come fully outfitted or is it totally empty?

It comes with the very basics, it's flyable but better to upgrade things like the FSD oh and they come with no weapons.

edit:- ninja'd lol

There are no daft questions.
There is a lot to learn if you start playing this spacesim.
Always take care to have enough money to buy a new ship + a few basic module upgrades + enough insurance for a rebuy or two.

.... and, if still strapped for credits, upgrade modules to Grade D (they are the lightest) which will give the ship more range.

Often a good idea to check in Outfitting to see what the station can sell you to put in your new ship, otherwise you might get your new ship and not have range to get where you want. That's never happened to me, oh no :) High Tech tend to be good places to buy.

And the power distributor is in fact the most important, next to the power unit itself. Without power you're dead meat.

When buying a new ship its best to make sure you have enough for upgrades and insurance, and plenty of cargo, if a ship is 10Mil and you have 11Mil, you cant really afford the ship.

The best thing you can do when thinking of buying a new ship is to go to one of the websites dedicated to this. www.edshipyard.com or www.coriolis.io are both great sites, and you will see what the costs and adjustments a ships modules will have. These websites really do make outfitting a new ship a lot easier to plan.

Don't listen to any of these daft people. Buy whatever you want and hit the HAZRES's like a kid backtalking you. I'm talking hair on fire, leaping off the bridge while playing an electric guitar with razorblade picks!

Or play it safe... your call.

Coriolis is great, but it hasn't been updated for a year. There's a version updated for Horizons here: https://coriolis.edcd.io/

Can one rid there ship of all weapons or is there a minimum that must stay onboard. I' m a hauler and prefer all the cargo space I can get. Hhauling ectra xargo far out weights the rebuy on the cheap ships.

Just keep in mind that if you sell off mods that were on the model when you bought it (i.e., the pulse lasers on an Eagle), it will be deducted from the sell price of the ship. No quick moneys to be made there sadly.

Thanks, for me it not about the money, it's the journey. Hauling passengers, documents, scanning data and small packages. Are my cup of tea.
