New Signal Source Detected... Or not.

I may have run in to a bug, or some server issues earlier today with USSs.
Before I post a bug report, I wanted to see if anyone else can replicate the issue. No point harassing the guys if it's just a hickup.

So, as far as I know, it doesn't matter what system you're in, as long as you have open space to roam freely in.

So, I was looking for more Pharmaceutical Isolators, and I was around 2000ls from the nearest objects, belting along at 400+c.

Every time it said "New Signal Source Detected".
So I slowed down.
Used free look to find it.
Nothing.
Check contacts.
Nothing.

It happened about 15 times in a row.
I've tried checking contacts first, then looking around.
Still nothing.

Only seems to happen at very high speeds.

When i took a trip to Mitterland Hollow later on, trying to chase it for giggles, I had endless USSs spawning.

They used to always conveniently spawn with enough distance to slow down. Has this changed so they now can be flown past so fast we never see them?

This usually only happens at very high speed.

The Signal Source actually spawns - but its Spawn distance relative to the Ship increases in a linear fashion with the own Ship's speed.

Thus, at very high speeds, it's not uncommon for Signal Sources to spawn many thousand Ls away from the Ship and actually pass >1000Ls (Detection Range Limit).
All you see then is the notification, but hardly have any chance of actually seeing it (either >1000Ls all the time or passes so quickly that it's almost impossible to catch).

The only way of standing a chance to enter one of these is to slow down within seconds after the Info Message (50-100c max.) and hope to catch it within the next ~20-60sec in the NAV Panel.
At really right speeds (well above 500c), many of them will spawn too far away from the Flight Path that will make them pass >1000Ls, making it physically impossible to detect though.

PS.
If I remember correctly, Signal Sources in the far past were visible beyond 1000Ls (can't remember precisely, someone correct me if I'm wrong).
The spawn mechanics worked without issue back then, it only became a factor as the visibility was reduced to a fixed 1000Ls - causing that inability to see a Signal Source spawned and tracking many thousand Ls away with a large Delta from the own Flight Path.

Ah ha!

Thank you indeed!
Repped!

It does make sense why they was spawning, but I couldn't see them.

I'll keep my USS hunting speeds to minimum now. Lol

Maybe I'll still post a bug report, as it's slightly confusing, so they may need to do some adjustments to it.
Though I'm not sure what. Lol
All I can think is simply don't spawn them at high (250~c+) speeds....?

Keeping the speed a bit down is indeed the only thing you can do.
250c will still spawn them outside detection Range, but you should be able to see them appear/pass in the NAV Panel.

But for all intents and purposes, high speeds aren't needed for USS hunting. They'll come all by themselves :)

Heh, to be honest I wasn't actually USS hunting at 400c, I was flying to a destination, but I happened to be in an Outbreak system, so i was hoping to find some Pharmaceutical Isolators on the way. :p
It was just confusing me when it showed the message, but nothing was popping up.

Ironically, slowing down when a USS is detected at high speed is the completely the opposite thing to do. Lol
