part of space exploration is the telescope, communication arrays, power generation, and embassies.
Telescope Station (or telescope object)
- can be docked with
- needs supplies of people (scientists and engineers)
- needs medical supplies and food
- exports research data
- missions to deliver scientists back and forth with tech worlds / tech stations
- are likely to be found in high tech systems
- might be pointed at a distant discovery
- might produce JPG photos of different distant locations in the galaxy for user experience
- could randomly take photos of different areas of the galaxy and upload photos daily for users to view
Communications Station (or communications object)
- is an array of satellite dishes and antennas
- a few large dishes (3 or 4) and hundreds of smaller ones pointed in all directions
- circular, rectangular, and other shaped antennas
- might have some aspects in common with cell tower design
- dockable
- imports scientists, food, medicine, fuel cells, etc
- exports communications data
- missions might be to act as a relay between the station and another distant communications station (or earth)
- missions include transport of engineers
- mission to provide computing power to encrypt or decrypt data
- found in high tech systems or around high tech planets
Power Station
- produces power for a plant
- might have huge solar panels
- might have capacitor like objects sticking out of it
- might have cylinders to hold fuel
- imports fuels, engineers, food, medicine
- dockable
- mission might be to transport engineers to and from station
- could have cool lighting effects for power generated
- could have an effect such as a beam of energy to a planet
- might be more common on industrial planets
Research Station
- imports scientists
- exports research data
- somewhat near discoveries, not necessarily at the discovery, but maybe in the same system
- missions to transport scientists, export data
Embassy Station
- found in stable systems
- tend to be in systems that are the capital for a faction
- ambassadors can be transported to war zones to increase peace
- missions to deliver statesmen from small factions to embassy station
- station is mostly for people, might have nice green areas / parks, office buildings
- imports food, medicine, people
- can have special missions to deliver statesmen to a system near earth
- missions to relay communications with other embassy stations or with war zones
- special mission to transport leader of a small faction to the embassy
- when war breaks out, missions automatically pop up to transport statesmen to/from embassy
