New Steam & Xbox ELITE Controllers [Discussion] + [Guides] + [Reviews]

OK thanks, sorry if I was unclear, whatI meant to ask is do you still have the ability to map controls to everything (Utilities, FS etc..) while also having full 6 DOF control? I looks like you do (hopefully!) :)

Yes, well it's always possible, as you can use literally any combination, but I think I've found a very comfortable way of doing it! I am seriously glad I have the elite.

Does xpadder allow you to rebind the guide button yet, or is it still a bit crappled?

As the configuration software detects the paddle presses separately and allows you to patch them to other existing controls I should be able to write something to rebind the paddle presses to "new" (virtual) inputs allowing them to be used for additional functions. I presume Microsoft haven't included that functionality at the moment in order to avoid breaking any software that currently uses xinput for the controller inputs and wouldn't understand the new inputs (and probably to avoid a re-write of xinput)

If I can find one to borrow I'll have a play with the code and see what happens :)

I'd be interested to know if you can rebind the guide button using the link in my sig. If so then there probably aren't any insurmountable hurdles to unlocking the paddles.

Edit: Wow. I just noticed I haven't done any of the things on the button11 to do list in over a year.

I have to admit, I was heartbroken to find that the paddles were not unique. I've started a petition in the Xbox feedback section, where people can vote for things they want.

However, I truly love using the Elite controller for ED. I keep the paddles mapped to XABY, and set them for throttle and lateral thrusters.

All the buttons that were mapped to XABY have been rebound to a combination of shoulder buttons and thumbsticks. I easily prefer this over a HOTAS. It's perfect for me, and I never would have used this set up if the paddles were unique. They still need to be though!

Edit: Oh, and I actually have room for every single command that's needed. Even the select next star sytem waypoint, which is so useful. Of course, you can do this with any setup, but it feels more natural working off the shoulder buttons.

Also, I can't remap the start or back button... lame lol

Edit Edit: I'm not sure if I'm seeing your bindings correctly. Are your thrusters bound to buttons that need to be combo pressed to perform actions? I went that route originally but found it to be extremely lacking, due to potentially activating a function on accident, during battle.

Does it work in Dark Souls 2: Prepare to Die? My Xbox 360 controller doesn't get detected and all the workarounds are horrendous.

I mean, I won't ever change from my 2-joystick-mouse-when-needed-free-keyboard-acess setup of doom. And Guild Wars 2! For those games I could imagine that. Any chance you're into RPGs? :p

Have you had any luck?

Thrusters are not bound to combos, what exactly do you want to know?

I love RPGs, but not Dark souls. What do you wanna know?
