New stuff from Pimax

I was really keen on an 8K X until I read here about problems pimax users were having with ED ( don't know if there were other games as well ).

I'm a Pimax user (8K+) and an early backer of the 8KX (hoping mine will be shipped very soon after CES).

Absolutely no issues with ED using my 8K+. The increased FOV really does make the game so much better.
Fantastic news, thanks.

Wait a sec, I've just been to the ordering website:

There are zoomed in comparison screenshots with other brands. Something odd, even zoomed in, my Reverb display is much better than these images with the exception of the flight sim dials where the 8KX is definitely better than what I see through my 'Verb. Either I'm unimpressed or I think I'm missing something. $2k is a bit much just to get another 86deg FOV.

It is pricey but the reviews coming in from CES are pretty amazing. Glad I got in on the Kickstarter - I think I paid $600 for the 8KX and got the 8K loaner. I paid an addition $200 to keep the loaner which is a bonus.

Nice, $600 is epic value, no-one could refuse that. I didn't even consider that the KX would be crowd funded - doh!

$1800 dollars "add to cart".... I suppose if you already have a 2080Ti... otheriwise one could buy a Reverb + 2080Ti ... I'm a bit skeptical, should I be?

Buy it ! but only if you have rtx 2080 Ti or 2080 , than you can play with fixed fovated rendering feature ( it works great with ED in my system) If you have something like 1080ti you can use 8kX in upscale mode and wait for 3080ti.

i think the 8kx will be the first truly next-gen vr product, if lcd is your thing.
hopefully the new casing has properly fixed the cracking issue, the MAS looks very nice and they appear to have corrected much of the distortion.
its all far too expensive for me tho! odyssey plus is my limit.

I've been following the company for a while through all the ups and downs. Having seen the feedback from users and reviews of not only the 8KX hardware but also the new comfort kit + headstrap etc at VR Days, CES etc, I'm happy that visual quality vs performance smashes everything else out the park for the money right now, and the new panels, distortion profiles, and long overdue comfort setup keeps everything in the sweet spot far better than before.

Would I like new lenses and OLED panels as well for the ultimate setup? Sure, but they bring their own delays and issues so I can live without those for now.

Even the latest $8000 enterprise XTAL seems like it needs more work before it can directly rival the 8KX, reports say great clarity but scaling is too small, which is surprising. So for sims and high end gaming, the 8KX is the one to beat now imho. Index is a great all rounder and a safe bet for plug n play, but loses on resolution and FOV. And those are the two things I'm really looking to max out on a 2nd gen headset.
