New symbol

This symbol has been there since today. I've never seen it before Update 9. It alternates between these two versions in the screenshot all the time. Sometimes it turns white and somehow it reacts to the flight behaviour of my Wingmate.

Does anyone know what this is?

I'd like to know what these symbols do too. They come up whilst in wing flight and sometimes they have multiple arrows coming from the hexagon. That shape seems like the symbol for engineers, but why is it appearing in space? Please someone from Fdev, could you explain this mystery?

ive noticed it too , and my guess is it shows where the members of your wing/team are...

It's a UI bug.
Usually only meant to show up when targeting megaship subsystems or when using the multicrew Gunner, but for whatever magic code reason, it's showing up anyway.

It's been a while since I created this thread.

In the meantime I have been able to observe two things:

• Sometimes this symbol jumps to another ship during supercruise and stays there. Perhaps it is meant to be an additional marker in the interface to make the ships easier to spot, as their luminosity in Supercruise was greatly reduced in Odyssey.
• In Combat Zones, an extremely large number of similar symbols appear centred in one spot. The small arrows they have move at the same time as the NPCs' ships. Maybe crosshairs for "non-targets"?

Whatever it is, it is definitely bugged.
