If I'm not running the rift, i'll probably run a 3 screen setup . I think this system should be up to running elite on max settings but as I said I'm open to suggestions.

You need to upgrade the free $50 VISA gift card to run the OR.
Other than that, it looks good. Go to OR website, it has minimum specs.

These are Minimum Spec for VR given by frontier.
• OS: Windows 7/8/10 64 bit
• Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K Quad Core CPU or better / AMD FX 4350 Quad Core CPU or better
• Memory: 16 GB RAM
• Graphics: Nvidia GTX 980 with 4GB or better
• Network: Broadband Internet Connection
• Hard Drive: 8 GB available space

I didn´t look at everything but your nvidia geforce GTX 970 is under minimun spec

Don't run a 3 monitor setup. That is bygone era technology. All you end up with are 3 tiny, flat, compressed views with ugly borders.

You can run VR on a 970 if you don't max out the graphics.

You can always add a second 970 at a later date.

The requirement for Vive and CV1 will be higher than DK2 but nevertheless it should run if you adjust graphics.

But if money is no object then buy a 980ti.

I wouldn't go cheap with the card, go for the 980TI.. Preferably 2 in SLI for when the consumer version hits. Grammaton is right, you don't need to max out.... Still, the game looks amazing in ultra, especially in VR.

The bottle neck at the moment is as much about the game support for VR SLI as it is the hardware.

I'm hoping that as the Oculus or Vive announce a release date that FD will actually do the required work to support them both fully and optimised.

At the moment the game just isn't. Horizons doesn't properly support SLI as per the 'Known Issues' so you have to do enable and configure it outside of the game and that is always going to be suboptimal at best.

I think the 970 will run the base game in VR but not Horizons on max settings.

PS I am not into VR but AFAIK NVidia is working on a SLI solution where each card renders one image. If they succeed you might be lucky and a second 970 could give you enough performance.
