There are bodies you can't map, and I would almost never use this, but I suppose it might be handy if I am scanning two ELW's or terraformables in a binary orbit but how often does that happen?
Or mapping a whole system for the full-complete bonus???
The bonus for mapping a complete system is so small in comparison to valuable bodies that you are far better off jumping onward and mapping more systems. In practice I have only ever fully mapped small system that have a large number of valuable bodies, and they are quite rare, I think maybe I have fully mapped 2 or 3 systems in a number of years.
The other things is, going to the nearest unmapped body when mapping a complete systems can lead to a lot of time wasting, you are much better off looking at the Orrery map and planning your route there as the nearest unmapped method can often lead you backwards and forwards across a system in ever larger steps.
