New to ED. Long time space explorer. Some questions

Greetings,
Having sat on this game for years - mostly due to work and physical health issues (aussie army vetern) I have now have been able to get in this thing after stop starting for weeks. Somehow a few play sessions have turned into >40+ hours and i am slowly getting the hang of things..slowly. Thanks to the endless list of youtube vids, Sepulchur, Yamks and others... I was an original kid who picked up First Encounters and it - blew me away - Next to Civilization 2, the amount of hours i sunk into that game .. impossible to know but mornings turned to dusk many many times. Since then it has been a rare sight to see something similar, Privateer, Freelancer, no comments on Starcitizen......of which i am a member of as well. I have 2 questions which I haven't been able to really find explanations for. The first is the camera suit. Jeezus christ its a pain in the ass. I have been able to link free view to all the various sides of the ship and player. Everything else I touch either doesn't work or makes the game do sily stuff. FYI. i have bought the X52 Hotas for this and its literally blown my mind how i tried to use the mouse and kb before it. Anyway I have attached screen shots of the listing of buttons for the camera view.. can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. Which ones have i not configured that need it? I am completely.. at loss. Worked everything else out - currently in a kitted out Cobra MK 3 doing transport runs, about to practice some combat down at whatever the system the Fed's are trying to destroy those narco dealers at before finding a good explorer and going off into the black.

2. Squadrons, teaming up etc, are there many "clans" who take on new players? I play exclusively in open mode.
3. PVP only, that is for much later - but what rewards and other things are possible thru winning / losing a pvp mode battle?

I believe this game has now sunk its claws into me .. which is a good thing. and yes I do like Odyssey. Simple and yes it has flaws.. but everything i see here now as a 10? year old when I played First Encounters.. is amazing. I just hope F-DEV continues with these expansions .. there is so much more to do,
Any help or suggestions ie the camera suite would be appreciated.. i don't need anything complex but i would like to you know .. move the camera round, zoom in out .. side profiles ..etc..

3. PVP only, that is for much later - but what rewards and other things are possible thru winning / losing a pvp mode battle?

PVP is a negative_sum_game in Elite
If you win a battle by attacking a wanted cmdr, you get a minor sum of credits (cmdr bounties are capped at 2 millions iirc) and basically that's it
If you win a battle by attacking a clean cmdr, you'll get a bounty (so a penalty)

If you lose a battle, you will have to rebuy your ship (that can be up to 40-50 millions for a Cutter/Vette)and you lose whatever cargo you had, exploration data, bounties, PP merits and vouchers and in horizons you also lose combat bonds (in Odyssey not anymore)
You may also fail certain missions.

Not at last, PVP is like i'm allowed to do it, but the game does not ask me to do it.
There is not a single objective in the game that requires you to kill another commander.
So PVP is an added layer ontop the pve game. More over, if you get into BGS, you need to check who you're going to kill since you may negatively affect your faction

1. I don't know what you need in the camera suite. I have a dedicated gamepad for the camera controls, and I tried to map it similar to the regular gamepad flight controls, with orientation on the left stick and movement on the right stick/triggers. You might also remap your regular flight controls to camera controls while you're in the camera suite. If you do that, you lose the option to control your ship while in the camery suite - for some people, that doesn't matter, for others, it's a no-go. But you may find (like I do) that you're soon running out of hands and fingers if you want to control >12 DOF simultaneously (6 for the ship, 6 for camera movement plus a few more for camera settings - it makes a lot of sense to have one person flying the ship and another flying the camera; check the Buur videos - on my feed, they even have their take on camera handling as the first vid).

2. Lots - there's a whole subforum deicted to them: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forums/elite-dangerous-groups-squadrons-factions/

3. In-game: none that aren't possible in any other game mode. The only difference between the three gaming modes is who you can encounter - NPCs only, group members only or everybody. Everything else can be accomplished in any game mode. Even BGS and PowerPlay doesn't benefit in any way from Open mode (much to the chagrin of some very outspoken PvP proponents). Sure, in theory you might be able to directly attack CMDRs supporting your opponent. In practice, due to ED's instacing, you'll need to make an appointment first.
