New to Minning - Imperial Cliper load out to start with?

Hi Guys,

I've tried most things in elite now except mining. I have plenty of money and an imperial clipper to use and from what ive been reading I have come up with this build [Click Here]

Can you mining guys give it a look over and see if I'm making any glaring errors before I start delving into this part of the game? :)

Your knowledge is appreciated! Many thanks.

It looks good to me, only small thing is that I would use a 2a refinery (6 bins) with a 3d collector limpet controller.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. This is great info.
I understand that if I do mining within the bubble then pirates give you a lot of attention? Should I go for a "stay and fight" build or a lighter "run away!" build? Or is it just personal preference?

I'm actually thinking of doing away with the prospector controller and adding an extra collector controller instead. Usually when I'm mining I don't bother using the prospector anyway, I just give the roid a quick buzz and move on to the next if doesn't have what I want.

I kitted my mining Clipper with two large pulse lasers and the two smaller hardpoints with mining lasers .. That gives you the same fire power as a Vulture (Obviously with pulses) and you strip the asteroids pretty quickly.

In a clipper you can always run away. With my dd3 drives I get over 530 with boost. So I only have a paperweight shield to protect against a roid if I get too close.

I do recommend mining outside the bubble though, I never get any unwanted attention from NPC's.

Actually better than the suggestions in here. Only weird thing is that one A grade collector. Can be a D grade as well.

The Clipper can easily run in any case, but if you want to have a really high profit rate you'll need to mine inside extraction sites and be capable of tanking some damage while you mine.

There it's up to you whether you want to rely on security protecting you or want to collect the occasional bounty yourself. Either way you're already well equipped. I'd personally go for double chaff to avoid more damage.

Don't do that, even if you don't use them to find asteroids.

An A grade prospector triples the amount of fragments you get.

Sooo.... (little bit off topic) is the clipper is better than Python for mining?

No, mostly because it has a smaller distributor.
But it also has less space and only lands on large pads.

If you want speed though it's certainly better.
