New to Odyssey, quick questions:

So I just started playing Odyssey, loving it so far. I’ve got a few questions about some of the weapon stats and combat. So far, my gameplay style is mainly buffing Assassin and Warrior damage.
The first question is in regards to the DPS of various weapons. I have a sword that is 319 DPS, and then a staff that is 290 DPS, and yet I find the staff is way quicker to kill people than the sword? So I’m wondering what the DPS stat actually represents?
Secondly, are there more than 1 or 2 combos with a given weapon based on the combination / order of light and heavy attacks you do?
Thanks in advance! applinked

The staff has a strong defensive advantage, since it can be used to hold a sword-wielding opponent off - out of his own range - leaving you free to pummel him about the head. But the spear is a definite advancement over the staff because it has the same defensive strength in addition to the pointy bit at the end.

Personally I prefer hunter, with great mobility and high dps even with low end gear you can 1-2 shot most enemies, and since the right pet can tank to great affect your never in any real danger! as far as dps the stats pretty much speak for them self. Especially if you have recount!

I am wondering a little though, should we start a book on whether the OP has not replied out of:

A. Embarrassment after realisation.

B. Passed out from booze after post.

C. Has been twatted by Sally (the forum assassin).

D. Been sectioned into hospital.

or ....

E. Simply can't remember which forum or game he/she made the post in, what it was about, or where he/she lost the plot.

That's AD&D for you :) This article was a most amusing reminder - especially about them not bothering to show what any of the multifarious polearms looked like!

"I instead divided the polearms into types: Choppity, Forky, Slashy-Pokey, Multi-Tool and Spear."
