Powerplay New to powerplay, trying to make sense of it.

I've just joined a power and I thought i'd try to defend a controlled system that is under threat, I had to fly half way across occupied space to get there, but then after a couple of hours flying around 'defending' the system i've yet to actually see anyone who is undermining it in any way. I haven't even seen an enemy faction ship.

So I thought i'd do some fortification missions and was asked to transport some documents, after ages trying to figure out how to get the documents I eventually figured that you need cargo space, I have none because i'm in my combat ship, and it just seems daft that you need tonnes of cargo space to carry documents.. SO I am basically finding it all a bit annoying.

Unless of course I am doing it all wrong ?

Also how do you work with other commanders who have joined the faction ? I can't figure out how to even contact them or anything ?

Welcome to our fun world!

All powers have reddits and discords to co-ordinate, as there is no way to fully communicate in game outside of text chat.

Since Powerplay (PP) straddles open, private and solo, its impossible to try to intercept others 100%. A lot of people play Open, but a big chunk do not (I don't, for internet speed reasons).

I'd suggest checking your powers Reddit and seek tasks there; each of them is well organised.

Check out this thread for a list: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=189656

Hope it helps! PP is annoying, but its also very entertaining as it gets you interacting with others in meaningful ways. Quite often I curse it and praise it in equal measure.

This is exactly what I am looking for in a space MMO, but please elaborate, how exactly to you interact, is there a power specific bulletin board somewhere ? is there any form of command structure ?
How is strategy organised within a power ? How to fellow power supporters team up, how to we actively oppose other factions... I just can't figure any of it out.

Check out your powers Reddit page, and see.

For example, I am a co-coordinator for Pranav Antal, where we have a very loose (in that we have none) command structure, while other powers like Hudson have a very rigid chain of command. Quite often groups within powers elect leaders, or that people step up (like I did) over time.

The easiest way is to follow that link to your powers reddit and ask.

On Reddit you will find links to the comms platforms for each power, mostly Discord.

Which power did you pledge to? I'll link the relevant Reddit.

So are you guys are saying that the powers are only roleplay outside of the game itself, like we used to in the Galnet days before Elite Dangerous ?

It's a mix. Powers vy for the number one slot, they try to survive, do background simulation manipulation.....some do bits of role play or write Galnet articles about what goes on, it's really up to you.

My preference is role play, and have written several Galnet articles in the local news feeds in game, as well as a few on real Galnet.
