New to the bubble (long time no see)

I started playing Elite in nov 2014. In march 2015 I headed out towards the core. Arrived at Sag A* on dec 13 (page 48). I came home three days ago, 27th july. At first I was going to hurry home for the Horizons update. It didn't happen. I had a long break and had to focus on my aikido shodan test (1 dan). Then there was Powerplay and Engineers, stuff I've never experienced. I used to run the rare goods loop, my god that feels so small now. I even took an SRV for a spin yesterday. Not the greatest feeling with Oculus Rift..

I returned on the high plane to Quince, and sold it all there to the Empire's delight. I went from Pathfinder to Pioneer, made about 84M, the final 12,000 LY were mainly jumping with little exploration, so could've been more.

Most of my time in Elite has been spent alone, a long way from home and I'm ready to head out again. Blips on my radar make me anxious [sad]

Anyone else done something like this?

CMDR Kotegaeshi

PS. I think I found an entry for the record books too, found some giant rings. Would be 13th in size (width). I'll have to check if I got my name on it first.

That's dedication!

What made you go home at all?

I think many of us understand that after a long trip, being back in the bubble quickly leads to another long exploration trip.

Fantastic :)
I remember my first exploration trip - I went a whole 660 ly and got very nervous, a feeling not unlike vertigo.
Which is the feeling I get now being in the Bubble, or any kind of populated space. Last time I sat in dock for 24 hrs, doing nothing...then I fired up the Asp and, well, four days later I'm 9k out, feeling better the further I got...

The problem is always the journey home though. Those last few thousand LY back are the longest and most tedious. I combat this by making circular trips, thus putting home as the target :)

It's true about wanting to leave again. I feel like there's nothing here for me anymore. It's great seeing all the stations with the Rift, but not enough to keep me here. You have to remember I didn't magically get an SRV out there. My ship wasn't really fitted for exploration and the thing that I really wanted to upgrade was the fuel scoop. I would see people on youtube scooping at 450-500/s in Asps and there I was stuck with my class 3 scoop. Class 5 scoop feels unreal. It's so quick! That alone makes me want to head out again. This whole Barnacle story made me nervous too. I though it would just be my luck to have a Thargoid invasion killing me out there before I could cash in.

I had 89% hull and most subsystems were around 85%. No repair modules. Fully combat capable, but thankfully the Asp is so great, I still had a 30 LY jump range.

As soon as I was back from Distant Worlds, I jumped on the Formidine Rift caravan. As soon as I xas back, I went with Crab Nebula Expedition. As soon as I returned, I - modded my ASP and - took off for the Borderlands Venture. Welcome to the club!

Check out the Exploration Hub for ongoing expedition.
