New to the game

What's up peeps.

I'm new to the game, and after some growing pains of trying to find my way through such a wide open game I have finally made it to the cusp of being able to do what I want and that is explore. I could certainly use a better ship setup but since my goals are long term I don't mind the grind. I'm currently piloting a hauler with an upgraded FSD and a few other upgrades which has really opened up the game for me. Based on my limited experience I should be able to get around pretty nicely for the time being as long as people don't shoot at me.

Just wanted to pop in and say what's up and thanks for the wealth of knowledge I have found on this forum.

Side note: The galaxy is a lonely place and I don't think I have run into another human being yet. Currently on my way to check out Betelgeuse so I more than likely won't see anyone for a while.

Welcome CMDR

Galaxy can be a lonely place, when I went out to the rim I would listen to music or lave radio but there is a lot to see and take Pics have a safe journey and fly safe.

My GT is the same as the forum :D

Welcome to the most addictive form of grinding in the gaming world ;)

Early on, money is really nice and easy for the small/mid range ships once you have the hang of it. But if I could give any new player a good piece of advice, take your time and enjoy the game. Unless it really gets your pulse racing, don't get caught up in grinding for cash for the sake of having a big/expensive ship.

Do a few different activities and explore the various ways of making money. Small ships are as valid as the big ones...they just do different things better :)

Welcome CMDR :) The Hauler is a good little ship, I have one in dock.
Fly safe
Thx. For my needs it seems like a very good choice. I'm down for a slow pace run and I don't need a big bad ship since I am just cruising around enjoying the sights. I'm sure I will get one eventually.

Lonely indeed. I enjoy the solitude for the most part. Gives me a chance to veg out once the wife and baby go to sleep lol.

I'm in no rush at all. I don't think the galaxy is going anywhere anytime soon so I will just grind away at it. I'm just going to invest heavily in this little guy and deck him out. I own a few cars and I have one for racing, one for hauling the family, and one for my daily driver/beater. This hauler gets to be the daily driver :)

Sound advice here. I would agree it's best to take things at a leisurely pace. Sure it's nice getting one of the expensive ships, but getting an "end-game" ship early on doesn't really add to the fun as all you do is grind to get to it.

Once you can afford it, I do recommend getting a Cobra Mk3. It's a superb all rounder and it's good fun to fly. Plus if you get interdicted and shot at, if you've fully upgraded the thrusters you'll be able to outrun anything as it's the fastest ship in the game.

Yea Hauler is fine ship, had some fond times with it.

Whatever you do, take your time and enjoy yourself. I have been playing ED (on the PC) since November 2014, and I usually play for a couple of hours a day. One of my ships is an Asp Explorer kitted out for safe exploring, and I should take her out again soon. The view from her cockpit is incredible (especially in VR!). Choose what YOU want to do (although you might want to listen to advise), as some people say you should look at everything when exploring, others say you should pick and choose. To my way of thinking, only YOU can say what interests you, and what bores you.

Fly safely, have fun and (if it weren't for the fact you are on the Xbox and I am on a PC) see you out amongst the stars.

Very agreeable statement, other than that cobras aren't the fastest ;)

That aside they are still very fast and very good early multiroles. I went with the DBS instead because I am quite combat oriented and like its agility, but you gotta watch out for railguns because they like making toast of the canopy...

I'm pretty sure they're the fastest in a straight line! Other ships can out-turn it, but I'm not aware of anything which can outrun it. Please enlighten me!

It does have the fastest boost though, which kind of makes me correct. :p

Joint ;) Viper is effectively the quickest ship. But you're right in that it's still a hell of a fast ship. More internal capacity and I'd feel better about using one as a smuggler.

When I first started playing it took a while for me to run into people. Once you start jumping around the galaxy you'll see them.

Welp I just made it out to Betelgeuce. Took me a few hours but worth the journey.

Insane how huge this star is compared to anything else I have encountered. I am super cruising at a crazy rate around it and it just fills up my entire screen. 2300LS away and it fills the entire cockpit view. Awesome game.

Just when you think you've seen everything. Something else pops up. Enjoy the ride CMDR. It's a wonderful one!
