My proposal is to add a new tag in the visited section of the map. It would be under, "Map View configurations," and "Visted Stars."
It would fit between the existing red, "Not visited," and teal, "Visited," selections.
It would be a mix of the two colors(purple) and called "Unexplored." It would have a tick box like the others so it can be shown/hidden with other options.
The reason for this is when you die after exploring and you loose data the systems remain teal and say visited, but they have unexplored planets in them afterwords. Because they do not go back to red it's hard to explore areas thoroughly like NGC or other areas you might want to know you have covered thoroughly. This would allos the selection of Purple highlights over existing teal that have unexplored bodies in them. This would make it possible to focus to find stuff you lost data for if you are trying to go over everything. It's a neccesity at this point for exploration if you are not just grabbing money. There is no way to currently find unexplored lost data with the new system without painstakingly going over system by system by hand in the map. This would resolve this and make it reasonable. Especially if it's applied to the, Apply Filter to Route," function as it would make it easy to try to recover lost system scanned if desired. This helps in any special area you want to be thorough in like trying to go over the bubble or and NGC or other unique star cluster.
It could also have other clever uses like pathing. Say you go to an area and purposly die or don't explore completely. You could leave breadcrumbs to an area you like to go. Usefule for explorers, miners, combat where you go the same path. You name it.
It would also be a godsend to all of us who can't help but scan every system you visit. It would give an actual way to back track later and clear it up if you wanted too so you don't have to feel like you are missing something if you don't scan it. It would make this game 1000 times more pleasant for a large part of the playerbase!!!! There is no reason for this not to be in game. It's the entire reason people obsessively scan systems so much.
