The last big event announcement was Xbone and Unreal Tournament in ships. We new both were coming. I'm not optimistic about the next 'big announcement' .
No way to know for sure, but I was watching an interview with cmdr DB the other day, and his intonation and expression as he confirmed the announcement left me quite optimistic (3:55)

No, there's been a delay. FD estimate sometime around 14.45 now.
As stated there's supposed to be a pc/mac announcement coming, but I'm a keeping a tight grip on my enthusiasm this time - after the extensive Powerplay build up which turned out to something that doesn't interest me.
I personally expect the first wave of something major to play around with over the Christmas holiday, but that's total speculation.

Again maybe I'll be wrong, but remember how optimistic everyone was last time? Or before powerplay came out? I think he's winging it.
That's a long time to hold your breath for, and if the last "Big Announcement" was anything to go by you'd be better off just breathing normally.
Announcement at Gamescom (6th-9th August) with the release probably scheduled for September or 'before Christmas' along with CQC.
