New Warthog stick has play in "z" axis - broken?

Yes I know the Warthog stick has no twist axis but this brand new bit of kit has play in that z / twist axis. I seem to remember when trying a mate's one yonks ago that there was no play in it whatsoever. So I am wondering if my memory is wrong and if this is normal or should I exchange it?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

when elite first launched I had one but sold it again almost straight away yea due to no yaw
I rem about 3 deg of play from center but rem thinking is that right?

From what I have been able to glean elsewhere on the interwbnessthingy a small amount of twisty-loosness-play is sometimes found by people but they refer to only a very small amount of travel. So I think I am going to return this for a replacement as I am not happy that a brand-new stick moves so far (5° approx) - especially when pressing the MMC button (no 5 - the one on the right-hand side), which will get used a lot as it is the go-to-bind for "target ahead".

Check that the round grey nut is fully fastened, you will get play in the unit if it is loose. It needs to be done up really tight.

apart from no yaw I still think its the best stick I have held to date and I tried my m8s virpil too
which if light fingered would suit better, the warthog was made for terminator types imo

As far as I remember, my stick always had this little play in the z-axis, too. I don't think it is quite 5° in my case but that may be because I'm more used to looking at it as way of travel in mm (about 2-3 mm on my stick). Incidentally, the tightness of the grey nut makes no difference to the amount of wiggle room, it's always there and always the same, even if the grey nut is fully loosened. Can't say if this is normal or not, as I only ever had the one stick. What I can say is, that it has never gotten worse in many thousands of hours of use in various games.

two different factories?
be interesting to hear from other owners? (or pilots currently doing real time A10 C.A.S! ;) )
thought I rem correctly...…………….
(did not attempt the nut)
