New way of playing with a new mouse

Hello guys :)

I work in a company which has created a 3D mouse designed for graphic designers and 3D designers. I find the format suitable for video games and I would like to know your opinion on the subject.

Our mouse is called "Lexip 3D", it has a joystick and a tilt allowing movements in 3 dimensions on 6 axes. Companies like Dassault Systems have had the opportunity to work with.

Today, the mouse always targets professionals but I would like to present some mouse’s configurations on video games to my superiors to propose the development of a Lexip gaming mouse. I had the opportunity to do some tests on your game:

You can set the tilt, the joystick, the buttons as well as the classic keys of the mouse.
I think it would be excellent with a strategic commander too.

As regular players, what do you think of our mouse?
Would it be interesting for Elite Dangerous?
Do you have any configuration ideas?

Thanks! [big grin]

In case of, my config was :
- roll (tilt)
- move (joystick)
- hyperspace jump + lock target (side buttons)

On the video it looks awkward, not sure how it would work but it's very hard to tell just from that short clip. How about getting in touch with Obsidian Ant, maybe send him one to see if he wants to do a review on it, he's a well known figure here. Personally I am not going to spend money on a mouse they may be better than my current setup, but if it is good and comes with and Obsidian Ant recommendation I might give it a try.

Fact is I often fly mouse and keyboard when doing planetary surveys because it gives me more control so it may suit me, but I would need a to see a real life test review. I would be wiling to give it a test myself but I am not as well know a OA so it may not carry much weight in the community.

the issues i see with it is the rocking of the mouse how would it not move the mouse messing with your aiming or would it be able to be seen as a joystick and not a mouse in game

Actually looking at the short clip it appeared that the rocking to emulate joystick was activated by holding a button on the side, but I can't be certain that was the case, but if it was then mouse movement may be deactivated during joystick mode, but as I said earlier, not enough info really.

I have a few 3DConnexion 3d "mice" that I use in modelling programs - they are one of the standards used in the field - so would be very interested in such a mouse.
Also have a Sandio 3D mouse from a few years back that integrated three digital four way sticks.

Looking at this, it reminds me of the Swiftpoint Z mouse which features pivot, tilt and roll functions.

If you're looking for a beta tester, shoot me a PM :)

Edit: Just placed an order for one - I've got a thing about peripherals... :)

I am very much interested in where this might lead. I have not seen this before.
For me this could never replace my HOTAS, but this might have interesting applications in other types of games too.
If the price is right and the quality is good enough then I would want to buy this for sure.
I am always on the lookout for the ultimate gaming mouse. I have a large collection of mice to attest to that.

To add. This is not a new mouse, it's been out for several years apparently with limited marketing outside of the design sphere. Their site has been up/down quite consistently too depending on feedback relating to the product..

That's great, and I was the first to see such a cool 3D mouse, Lexip 3D, and I'm looking forward to having it, though I do not know if this really exists. When this mouse can be developed because I am very much can not wait.

Hi guys,

I've some news for you!
My team accepted the project and we've been working on it the few weeks ago.
Now we're looking for funds to finalize this project, so you can pre order the mouse now on Kickstarter if you want: https://goo.gl/vLqCTN

It will be available for right and left handed!

Hope you'll like it :)

Hello, Koskie. :)

At the time of writing, your project is at 286 backers and is already successfully double-funded, with another 44 days still to go on the Kickstarter. Congratulations, old horse!

I won't be buying one myself - I'm a HOTAS man and I've only recently forked out for a new one - but it looks like a good piece of kit (if a little pricey, even with the KS discount). I wish you the best of fortunes with production and delivery. :)
