New weapons

As we know there are not that many weapons really, and variants would be a simple way to create tons more.

At the moment we have weapons that fire to 3000m or 4000m, there might have been 3500m as well, do not remember exactly to be honest. Damage is decreasing (linear?) by range, an reaches 0 at max range.

I believe that fitting ships would get more interesting, also combat would be more interesting -> By just adding short/medium/long range variants.

You can use the same graphics, sfx, gfx. At least not a high priority task, you can do later.

I believe that the development time VS benefits, would be very good with this one.
 
Hopefully we will get TONNES of customization options but what I would REALLY like is:

-Increase Heat generation and fitting requirement but remove the 33% reduced damage against larger ships on smaller mounts.

So if I want a "capkiller" I can get a small ship with a weapon unusually powerful for it's size against ships larger than itself. Now, this would be limited to ONE step so a small VS large weapon would reduce it's damage by 33% against a large ship instead of 66%.

Same with range.

-Increase heat and fitting requirement but gain additional range

Or why not Fire rate, shield penetration.

And why not ammunition types?

-Explosive rounds for multicannons (crap damage against shields but does AOE damage)
-Burst fire Cannons
-Full Auto Cannons (well, you will run out of ammo damn fast)
 
Sounds good. Ship combat is in it´s infancy at best. As far as i know the bigger ship allways wins.
Missles are utterly useless at the moment or have u been hit by em once?

I´d suggest the low level ships or better the < 3 equipments to generate 30% less heat. So smal ships at least can vanish from sensors.
 
I'd honestly appreciate some form of tuning interface that allows us to adjust parameters of our weapons at the cost of other parameters. Tuning a multi-cannon for higher fire rate, for example, at the cost of accuracy and heat buildup. Or, tuning a beam laser for higher intensity and damage, but at a cost of range and heat efficiency.

This is probably asking a WHOLE lot though, so I'd definitely settle for more viable weapon types and adjustments to existing weapons. *coughmissilessuckcough*
