New with Elite Dangerous

Hello,

I'm new with this game and just purchased it with the Odyssey DLC. There are four games with the client. The single player combat training, Elite Dangerous, Elite Dangerous: Arena, Elite Dangerous: Horizons and Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.

I wanted to know where I should begin.

Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

HonyBee

Elite Dangerous: Horizons would be my advice. Do its (very good) tutorial, and you start in a safer "newbie zone" that doesn't let in experienced characters/overdeveloped enemy ships, from where you can branch out later.

Horizons has ground settlements to which you can take cargo missions, and the like.

combat training is bsicly the demo - you get the training space missions only - these are also available in the main game
arena is arena style CQC - dont think there much more beyond the pew pew
ED Horizons is the base game, you get to fly round space and land on planets, explore in a rover - as Frankymole pointed out theres a nice space starter area where you can learn the basics without being harassed by more experienced players, most NPC ships you will encounter in the starter zone wont be overpowered UNLESS you enter a conflict zones then those tend to be Elite and overpowered
ED Odyssey gives you the same as ED:H but you also get FPS ie running round stations and planets on foot - ED:O not sure what ED:O gives as a starter but youll get at least foot training missions

as Frankymole suggested ED Horizons is a good starting point - not sure what ED:O brings to the newbie experience beyond foot training but the newbie zone should be available to new comers in ED:O so you hopefully wont miss out on

be warned though there is no player intereaction between the ED:O and ED:H - if you play ED:O you cant play with somebody playing ED:H this will change once the console versions release
