New World / Old World Animal Packs

Although I think that desert/drylands and mountain/highlands packs are the most likely to happen, I've been thinking of what else could Frontier do this year if they want to try something different. The lack of habitat animals from South America in the tropical pack made me wonder if they are planning something else based in South America, so the idea of having the two animal packs of 2023 based on New and Old Worlds started to round my mind, with the New World Animal Pack releasing first.

I won't include birds in the walkthrough exhibit since nothing so far shows that Frontier is going to take that route.

New World Animal Pack
  1. Howler monkey
  2. South American coati
  3. Andean bear (or American black bear)
  4. American flamingo
  5. Patagonian mara
  6. Ocelot
  7. Sea otter (or North America river otter)
  8. Any American bat
Old World Animal Pack
  1. Crested porcupine
  2. Hamadryas baboon
  3. Great white pelican
  4. Wild boar
  5. African spurred tortoise
  6. Markhor
  7. Dromedary
  8. King cobra or chameleon

Amazing picks, the composition is very Frontier-like, with some new rig animals and also some easier to make with already existing rigs.

I could go withouth the Wild Boar, but I understand that there should be European representative.

So, will everyone be getting a 2 pack? Or is South America just some special little snowflake because Frontier isn't being a bit nicer to it?
Needing a focus on a particular continent due to the absence of many species compared to the amount of variety of what exists in zoos/the wild in real life isn't being a special little snowflake. It's addressing the lack of what's wanted/needed.

On a personal note, I thought about this the other day: animals wanted, no matter how low priority of a want, from the main six continents. I struggled to come up with 15 Europe/Asia/North America species, had nearly 20 from Oceania and 30 set me good with Africa. I had over 50 species from South America. That doesn't even take into account flying/exhibit birds since we don't know how/if that will be addressed.

Not everywhere needs a second visit, but South America’s current representation in-game is poor enough compared to its biodiversity (both in zoo collections and overall) that it could easily have another two animal packs dedicated to it. Of course I don’t see us revisiting regional-themed DLC, South America would just be top of the priority list if they did (followed by Oceania).

Please focus on New World / Old World and not on an Amazon pack which is not the topic discussed here. Thanks!
Sorry...yes, I would definitely purchase Old World and New World packs. Would hope they'd be released back to back.

Old World:
Wolverine (it's in 3 continents and 2 are Old World, so it goes here).
Crested Porcupine
Wild Boar
Saiga Antelope
Hamadryas Baboon
Markhor
Secretary Bird
Exhibit: King Cobra

New World:
Tasmanian Devil
Northern Brown Kiwi
Spectacled Bear
Patagonian Mara
Red Howler Monkey (hoping we'd get a Spider Monkey and would like some color difference in the two)
Golden Lion Tamarin
Squirrel Monkey
WTE: Two Toed Sloth

"Special snowflake"? Really? Why are you so aggressive towards everyone all the time? You should settle down and remember people are just discussing a video game.

New World Animal Pack
  1. Golden lion tamarin (EN)
  2. Southern elephant seal (LC)
  3. Andean bear (VU)
  4. Ocellated turkey (NT)
  5. Patagonian mara (NT)
  6. Red wolf (CR)
  7. Sea otter (EN)
  8. Alligator snapping turtle (VU)

Old World Animal Pack
  1. Somali wild donkey (CR)
  2. Saiga antelope (CR)
  3. Helmeted guineafowl (LC)
  4. Musk ox (LC)
  5. Tasmanian devil (EN)
  6. Markhor (NT)
  7. Ethiopian wolf (EN)
  8. Panther chameleon (LC) or Naked-mole rat (LC)

Conservation = Asia pack
Twilight = NA pack
Tropical = split between Africa and Asia (again)

Wetlands helped with the SA rep, but again 3 of the animals are from ASIA. Grasslands again helped to SA rep, but 3 of the animals are from Africa (and 2 of them also have range in Asia... again).

Oceania is also being neglected as a whole, even though the last few packs helped complete the iconic AUSTRALIAN fauna, they did nothing for the rest of the continent- New Guinea and New Zealand are non existing basically.

Soy yeah, SA could get a pack with the majority of animals in it dedicated to it, same as Oceania and i hope it happens.

Those are great animals, though I confess to still wanting to see a peccary of some kind, a walrus (though those are both new and old world) and sea otters.

So maybe my new world pack would be

howler monkey of some kind
Coati of some kind
Sea otter
Peccary of some kind
Musk ox (I think of these as mostly north American, though I think some populations exist in Eurasia too)
Andean Spectacled bear
Bush dogs
Walrus
Mara or maybe another primate species
Hummmingbirds and possibly other small, colorful birds as a walk through exhibit/aviary option

Elephant seals are cool, but I can't say I've ever actually seen them at a zoo (I have seen the Northern variety along the CA coast, and they are awe inspiring animals). Southern elephant seals , as well as the Walrus could be either new or old world, as could the wolverine.

Old world:

Saiga antelope (they are just really unique looking antelope)
Hamadrias baboon
Tasmanian Devil
Spotted Cuscus or some kind of tree kangaroo?
Crested porcupine (we don't have any porcupine species in the game)
Wolverine
Dromedary camel
King cobra (exhibit animal)

Ooops, that's nine for each, and I can think of more, so I guess that means there are lots of ways to make me happy.

As an aside, I still wish we could get a bird pack at some point. Even if it's all larger birds and they don't fly properly (maybe just half jump/half flap from tree to tree or from the ground to trees etc, and waterfowl in zoos are often wing clipped). This is why I didn't put more birds on my lists. All those lovely cranes, secretary birds, raptors, vultures, large swans etc. deserve their own animal pack!

Here's mine.

New World (which is Americas) pack
  1. American crocodile
  2. American flamingo
  3. Three-banded armadillo (could curl into ball unlike nine-banded one)
  4. Squirrel monkey
  5. Green anaconda (maybe larger Exhibit box)
As for flying birds like macaws and condors, aviary cages would be needed and that'll be my last wanted after the rest of these.

Old World pack
  1. African leopard
  2. Dromedary camel
  3. Crested porcupine
  4. Markhor
  5. Any chameleon species for Exhibit
For seven habitat animals idea for the pack: Masai giraffe, any baboon species and any jackal species.

I forgot another
New World pack: Lesser flamingo
Old World pack: Either perentie or lace monitor. Both are Australian monitor lizard.

If one to two more bear species will happen, then ALL eight bear species (along with some subspecies) should be there.
