New Yembo - do I need a Fuel Scoop

Is New Yembo far out from other stations so will I need a fuel scoop to get there?

Also, is the station accessible or is it just under construction and closed right now?

Yes get a scoop. The station has a commodity market, it's bare. No facilities except refueling and ammo.

I can confirm that it's a bit of a way out. It was a 1000LY round trip for me, although I'm out in the boondocks of the Empire :)

OK - I've never used a fuel scoop before - for a Cobra will I need to fit an A4 scoop (thereby losing 16T of cargo space), or will an A2 be sufficient? I don't want to be taking forever to refuel.

Fit the biggest you can afford to get away with. The bigger (and higher class) the faster the scooping. You can always sell it when you get back. Why would you need cargo space anyway? There's not exactly a lot there to buy at the moment.

Edit : an A4 scoop will fill your tank from empty in 46s. An A3 will fill it in 1m 30s. An A2 will fill it in 3m 33s :)

Always get the best scoop you can afford.

I would highly recommend having an Asp for going out there, although it is not required...

An Asp with the best FSD can just more easily make the trip out there. Going out with smaller ships will make it feel more like a chore.

my Asp is kitted out for exploration, & I have made trips out as far as 8000Ly, so relative to me, the trip out to New Yembo is a cake walk.

if you had a similiar ship, you could make the trip out with 80t of cargo no sweat. I would recommend stopping off at NGUNA on the way out, as NGUNA has a rare commodity which can make the trip sort of worth your while.

EDIT: Sorry. To be more relevant to the thread; I think you would need a fuel scoop. However I just did a plot from NGUNA out to NEW YEMBO, & I could actually make the trip without refueling in my Asp. It just has to be planned as an Economical Route, & not the Fastest Route.. Which honestly, would take way too long... :D

Get a fuel scoop... ;)

Don't forget to equip a advanced discovery scanner, also! lots of things to discover. ..

Yes, you need a scoop without a shadow of a doubt. There isn't another station for a long way so unless you do the economical route planning and take about 500 jumps to get there you'll be floating in space for eternity long before you arrive.

An A3 scoop is plenty big enough but you don't have a size 3 compartment on the Cobra so you might as well go for the A4 if you have the funds for it. I used to use the A2 scoop because on a long trip I'd use the time to replot my route when we could only plot 100ly but now the whole route can be plotted in one go I just scoop on the run. 0.3c round the sun and the half empty tank of my Clipper is refilled in a couple of circuits. The Clipper has a stupidly small tank so I scoop every suitable star. I'm normally refilled by the time the FSD has cooled down and the next jump is in sight.

Definitely. And the detailed surface scanner. There's a lot of exploration potential out that way. I made 134k from scanning the whole New Yembo system and there are a lot of systems with similar numbers of objects in the area.
