newbie in need of combat advice

I went:
Sidewinder (trade)
Hauler (trade)
Type-6 (trade)
Asp (retained)
Type-7 (trade)
Type-9 (retained)

The Asp is my combat ship (Deadly +41%) and the Type-9 is purely backup.
I earn on average 1 million credits each hour at resource extraction sites.

QED: buy a trading ship and earn some money to finance a better combat ship then bounty hunt at high intensity RES to get more money.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm currently sitting in an almost decked out db scout and earning bounties on my way to a vulture and my total savings + fired ship is around 5 mil.

I've been doing bounties all along which is what I enjoy the most. Lately I've been at a high signature extraction zone which can make some really nice credits.

Would you guys suggest that I stay on a scout or should I move to a vulture?

As in any combat never bring a fists to a knife fight, knife to a sword fight or a sword to a gunfight. If it looks like a fair fight - don't and running away is a perfectibly acceptable tactic.

Oh and never forget a KWS, it can boost your income quite significantly

If combat is what you like, in my experience the Vulture gives you the best bang for the buck and is the go to ship for pure combat.

I am a casual player and I have a Vulture with all C rated gear except the power distributor which is A and always should be A on any ship and sensors and life support are D. I use class 3 gimballed pulses, I don't use shield cells and have only fitted one A shield booster, giving me roughly a 500 MJ shield strength. PVE combat in this ship, which is around 8 mio. credits, is a piece of cake. You will have no problems in conflict zones as long as you have situational awareness and avoid getting swarmed. Pick the big ships, target power plant, use your thrusters constantly while firing, popp an occasional chaff, and you start taking the big ones down in no time.

Long story short: I suggest move to a Vulture.

Well for me personally when I bought my Vulture I had 25million banked before I purchased it(I have an A-Spec Cobra and A-Specced Python as welll) I pretty much A Specced it right out of the box and it cost me around 20million. So that is the "cieling" anyway. You wiill probably have to run it with lower class modules for awhile fighting your way to your next upgrade, At least that is how I have done my upgrades(I traded and fought my upgrades for my Python and Cobra)

So no I would still be saving up my credits for a bit longer before considering moving up.

Great to see more advice!

I eventually did buy a vulture and slowly started upgrading. Right new I'm sitting on around 15mil value on it, with most modules to be A . I managed to stick a 2B shield cell by disabling my fuel scoop and cargo hatch unless I need them.

Generally a really nice ship with plenty of tank and once I master the occasional flight assist off, immensely manoeuvre able

I just recently pledged to a faction leader and made my first 240 merits in a couple of hours. I wonder if pp can really be profitable for a casual...
