Newbie into the stars

Hey everyone so where to start....

I'm literally new to this game and after playing the tutorial I can't seem to figure out why I haven't played this game in my life before.. I've been looking for this kind of game after playing a game years ago (wing commander on the ps1) I loved it and couldn't find anything space related that I wanted to play until now but.... Things are clearly different haha....

So.. I guess I'm looking for help or allies...

I know the feeling too. I used to play Free Space 2 on PC religiously when I was a kid and never found anything that came close to it until I found ED a few years ago (it had a very similar style, load out & power management system as ED does).

I’m never really in Open Mode for reasons, but if you’ve ever got any questions about gameplay (I mostly do PvE Combat & Engineering) shoot us a message on here.

Welcome to the game. I'm sensei, triple elite, played for 3 years, currently taking a hiatus until Odyssey drops. I used to play a game called colony wars back on the ps1. Very similar to this one and what drew me here.

So just a few tips for new players.

1 stay away from popular places while in open. (Eg: Engineers, community goals, shinrarta dezrah) players gather there and your likely to be gankers.

2 learn to manually dock now. It's a skill that's useful later on.

3 learn to manually scoop cargo

4 fuel scoops are pretty awesome

5 do the guardian stuff as early as possible. You can unlock some modules that are decent substitutes until you can get your engineering unlocked.
