Newbie: Preparing for VR; Key Configs; No Mouse/No Keyboard?

My current setup: Thrustmaster4 HOTAS, Voice Attack, and G13.

Before I jump into E:D on my Vive, I need to make sure that I can do it "blind" so I've been trying to replace my dependency on keyboard and mouse with the above.

I'm having problems with the system/galactic maps in that I've not been successful at navigating to and from different tabs. The best example being the System panel: trying to change tabs on the left and the ability to click the select from the menu bar while on the active planet.

Is there a particular config I should investigate?
Or do you feel the majority of people are still using mouse?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

I assume you have your mode interface bindings set, so you can navigate your navigation & systems panels?

I also assume you have your galaxy map bindings set, so you can move around the galaxy map?

If so, I'm guessing you can't navigate tabs because you don't have a system selected. I don't have a lot of experience in the map, but I think you need to move your cursor until it snaps to a system/star (the disc on your plane that has a line up or down to the desired system). Once is snaps to it, you can select it, and then navigate the panel. Worth a shot, anyway.

I have not tried the mouse in VR.

Cliche is right - you need keys/joystick bindings set so you can navigate up/dow/left/right, select and move between tabs.

In the galaxy map, you can still use the mouse to grossly navigate, but you'll need to zoom in (I use the mouse wheel) until you see the little blue dot shadows for the system you want to select - then use the joystick bindings to pop the select circle over the systems dot where it touches the grid. Then you can enter the normal select route etc dialog.

Its a bit messy but when you have the bindings set right its not too bad.
