Newcomer / Intro Newbie Ship outfitting question

Hello,

I think I still count as a newbie. I have been playing for about a week now. But only got serious (and addicted) over this weekend.

So I worked my way into an Adder just before the weekend, and then over the weekend discovered Nav Beacons and Signal sources rather than just flying past them. And through a combination of bounty hunting and smuggling I now have enough to make the jump to a Cobra. But my question is....

Should I sell the upgraded equipment that I equipped my Adder with before I purchase a new ship? Or does that equipment value get calculated into the part exchange offer?

Thanks for any help,

I did this and the final part exchange price was lower. I'm not too sure if there is an advantage to selling upgrades 1st though i'm sure someone will be able to enlighten on this

Anything still attached to the ship (and the ship itself) will lose 10% when sold.

Sell what you can, downgrade everything else then sell the ship...

also remember you can also sell the shields and cargo space... So like Tracerracing said sell everything on the ship weapons ect. and those thing whitch cannot be only sold off the ship you downgrade to the lowest E-version possible whitch means you need to go to at HIGH tech station with huge population for more upgrades available as more ships to choose from...
Some things like FSD can easiely be downgraded from an A5 module to an E1-2 that means the ship wont be able to jump out of the system again but who cares you wont be bying it back and even if you did you'll get a higher ranked FSD in it when you do buy rebuy it... Other modules cannot be downgraded as much(like the thrusters) but only to the E-version of whatever size the Thrusters are...
