Ah yes, been immersed in the ED galaxy now for a couple of days. Basically fumbling and stumbling my way around whilst continously picking up my jaw from the floor due to the stellar graphics and sounds of the game. Starting to get a grip on most things apart from actual combat that I find slightly bewildering. Despite my shiny new Cobra mk III having more guns than a reasonably well armed Batman villain, I just can seem to actually destroy anything. Quite the opposite actually. More than once have I scooted out of trouble post-haste with shields screaming and windows cracking. But in time I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Not died yet, though there have been a couple of very close calls.
I am one of those rare breeds that did not outgrow computer gaming, despite soonish hitting 42 - that magical number - and have fond memories of the original Elite on the ZX Spectrum 48k and +3. And naturally Frontier on the Amiga 500 and 4000. More recent escapades include top-rank in War Thunder doing the realistic (cough) air-battles, so you'd think spaceship combat would be easy-peasy for such a jaded pilot ace as myself. Well, not quite. Designing and flying my own made contraptions in Kerbal Space Program doesn't help much either. Though if KSP had a Frame-Shift drive, that'd be sweet. Getting to Duna takes for ever, not to mention Jool or Eeloo.
Not quite sure where I'll go next in the galaxy, or what I'll do. Besides getting my combat ranking up a bit perhaps. A bit embarrassing being 'Harmless'. But also need to make that coin to trick out my Cobra, or eventually getting a new even sweeter ride. Had some success doing the rare goods trade. 150+ LY round-trips back and forth between Helvetitj and Rusani for considerable profit.
Anyhow, just popped in to say hi, and I'll see some of you at some trade route soon. Just dont shoot... ...back.
