Newcomer / Intro Newcomer Needs Guidance

So I've read and watched a bunch of guides both old and new and I can't seem to get a decent footing on how I go about getting a starting income.

I heard mention of federal distress beacons being possible with sidewinders so I looked around for about 2-3 hours without finding any. I then saw someone mention nav beacons I as well could not find any of those. It got to a point where I got bored and just killed random sidewinders for no money. Can someone point me in the right direction for an in-depth guide on how to start out? I don't care what I have to do I just want to earn a bit of cash for upgrades/new ships.

start by running a fer buliten board missions trading and delivering then when you have upgraded your ship a bit go looking for trouble at nav beacons if the system has one (not all do) or whiz round in Frame shift in a system till a USS pops up they are random for content but you can often get into trouble in them if that's you bag :D

hope this info helps I just got my imperial courier maxed out and still 10 mill change in the bank started at release with a sidie so it can be done :D

Don't dock in that system just to be safe. You more than likely killed Clean ships and now have a bounty on you (keeping this as simple as I can). Goto a new system and just start taking on Cargo Missions that give you the cargo to deliver (about 1000 to 4000 credits) which have an arrow on cargo icon. Simple. Then look to see if you're Wanted on the system panel on your right (inside cabin). If so you must go back to that system and dock to pay off the bounty. If non there go to another station there.
Don't randomlly kill ships - you can lose everything. There are ways to doing that which are safer when you know how to else you may not be able to claim any bounty on Wanted ships.

Killing things randomly is a sure way to make your game short and miserable.

If you must kill things, make sure it's for a reason - and double check that what you are about to fire upon is on a kill-list for a mission or a faction.

Of course, if you want to be an absolute psycho and blow everything in sight up - the game caters to that. You have to be actually good at it though.

And good luck trying to randomly blow up players - if there's no good reason for it - some people will take steps to ensure you never get the opportunity to do so again.
