Engineers News letter update, all the money lost due to insurance in 2.1 being reimbursed.

Well I guess if you died you are getting a bunch of money back, me on the other hand no money since I didn't actually die.

I crashed into the ground in an a rated python because I was tired while boost landing on a high g planet... unless the AI was some how controlling the gravity I don't think I deserve a refund.

Consider it a gift from the network glitch that allowed AIs to stack engineer upgrades on a single weapon, that allowed for 'interesting' combinations.

... hell they should NERF Gravity... one second im boosting 15km straight down to a planet with 2.6gs, then I close my eyes ... just for a moment... then BOOOOOOOM 12mil(ish) rebuy...

NERF gravity Brett C!!! this isn't fair! all I did was snooze a bit.

That is good to know. At least the insurance will be returned, however what about mission reward and standings lost during the last week can that be retconned on to the players as well?

It would at least make it desirable to bug test and report in future patches.

Gotta admit I was wondering where that 20 million suddenly came from :D

Edit:

Having admitted that I should also admit that I did a clean save shortly after and that 20 million has pimped my Cobra Mk III out and has put me well on my way to an Asp for exploring

I fell victim to that HOSTILE while docked at a Planetary Base bug that they patched in this point update. I wondered where that extra 9 million CR came from! ;)

I appreciate the thought, since that bug was NASTY! Impossible to get off the planet through any in-game method, since the SA were spamming the pad with missiles that took down my A rated Python in less than 10 seconds.

Thought for a bit as to what to do on a second attempt, since flying out was obviously impossible. Decided to try launch and immediate reboot of the PC which worked to get me into low orbit on reload, and proved to be my salvation! Otherwise, I would have been trapped down there until today's patch lifted my REP to Unfriendly so I could leave!

Would have been nice to also get the 9 million CR worth of mission cargo I lost over that incident, but I am happy to get half of my losses back! :D

Patch notes indicate that if you die and get stuck in a hostile station, your reputation automatically goes up so they don't insta kill you when leaving.

I didnt received any reimburse and I STILL see moded NPC ships in everywhere, just lost my viper.
I recommend everyone to open tickets to Frontier asking for reimburse for all ships you lost for moded NPCs, I will do it until they fix it, I am tired of their lies and incompetence. Maybe with a lot of reimburse tickets they will fix it.

GG7 all you needed to do was to load the 64 bit version of Elite (non Horizons version), and your ship should be in space as that version won't allow you to land on planets.

The more likely scenario would be to have a low Unfriendly rating with the controlling faction and pick up a fine for illegal cargo while docking, thus lowering your rep to HOSTILE as you were touching down. That is what happened to me a few days ago.

Prior to today, if you went HOSTILE while docked at a planetary base, you were pretty much hosed since the SA would NEVER give you the time needed to even lift off the pad, leave alone fly away from the base and jump out.

Now if your rep falls because of a fine while docking, I guess the lowest you can go while docked in the base hangar is Unfriendly. This would prevent the locals from bombarding you with missiles even before you hit the LAUNCH button.

It was a pretty amazing fireworks show from inside the hangar, I can tell you! ;)

Oh! Yeah.... I guess that would have worked too. I didn't even think of that, but thankfully, the reboot on launch did the trick although it was VERY close. I think my ship had 10% hull left when I hit the reboot button on the PC, 4 seconds after I hit the launch button to depart the base. Damned elevator is SLOW when you have missiles landing on your head! ;)

Thanks for the tip! I will keep that in mind if I run into any other glitchy issue like this while on a planetary base.

Fortunately for all of you out there, you will never have to face that scenario I did. ;)

You're treating us too well FD, I don't like it.

First you downgrade the AI again, than you reimburse the money lost. What's next? A free federal corvette when I get cheat/interdicted by a npc during bad connection?

In space everything is cold, cruel and merciless.
In space none can hear you scream.
That's why I like it.

I see no downgrade to the AI's new flying abilities and Chaff Spamming prowess other than them not having insta-kill weapons anymore. If you consider that a negative then you obviously never faced one of those AI yourself. You would have lost your ship no matter what you may think of you piloting skills. 100% kill rate in under 10 seconds with the AIs in question.

The bulk of the losses were caused by errors in their programming which created these monster AI killers, so it makes perfect sense to reimburse players for these losses. Had these balancing issues been addressed in the actual 2.1 update instead of today, all those losses would have never happened in the first place.

3 x Vulture and 2 x T6 - hardly going to break the Bank of Zaonce though there may be some tricky questions at the shareholders meeting ;-)
