NEWS RELEASE: Luxury liner conversions popular with Exploration CMDR's

Yesterday marked the departure of the recently converted Saud Kruger Beluga vessel Mount Robson on a scientific exploration expedition commanded by one Hans Mueller. After completing drive upgrades in the Maia system CMDR Mueller departed for the Statue of Liberty Nebula which is the first stop on the expedition. Recent market trends have shown that Luxury liners like the Beluga were struggling in the market. In order to increase the appeal of this vessel conversion kits were made available to swap out the luxury cabins with other equipment. With this recent development CMDR Mueller was certain the Beluga would make an ideal long range exploration ship. He stated: "The new conversions allowed us to create an ideal long range batteries included exploration ship. Dual AMFU's, repair limpets, a dual SRV bay, 64t of cargo space, the works! The view from the cockpit really is something and the handling of this ship for its size is amazing!" A veteran of exploration, CMDR Mueller was also also quite happy to trade the spartan and cramped quarters on his old Asp Explorer for the roomier and more refined interior of the Mount Robson. "I am not getting any younger, so having a bit more elbow room and comfort doesn't hurt either."

CMDR Mueller hired the consultants at Coriolis.io, a renowned engineering firm, when customizing the Mount Robson. Engineering was provided by Felicity Farseer, Bill Turner, and Professor Palin. The detailed specs of the final build are shown below.

CMDR Mueller again comments: "I was waiting for the new Krait Phantom to hit the market. It's a fine ship, but once Saud Kruger released these conversion kits I just knew I had to go out in a Beluga." After the Statue of Liberty nebula, Eta Carinae is the next planned stop. Equipment to study powerful O-type stars is on board. After that Mueller was reluctant to share where the expedition will go next. "We'll just have to wait and see" he said a few minutes before boarding the Mount Robson and heading out into the black.

Frontier, I've wanted to equip a Beluga like this for exploration forever. Thank you so much for making this journey possible!

I'll do it when they add Elite Feet. It would be like a whole new game just exploring the ship.

Then you'd spend so much time enjoying the Beluga's onboard delights, the ship would never make it out of the station!

The Mount Robson looks magnificent though, it's cool to commit the ship in this way. I'm almost tempted, but when it comes to Saud-Kruger, I love the Orca best.

I think it's about time we get some customizable paint-jobs - the Mount Robson looks magnificient, but for that real luxury explorer feel i need a totally pimped out Saud-Kruger ship.

I was VERY tempted by the Orca myself. Check out this build:

To me the Orca is now a top tier exploration ship. I just love really big ships and I wanted to carry more equipment which is why I went with the Beluga. But yeah, boosting >500m/s and a jump range over 62ly? That's amazing. I know one thing; my Asp Explorer is probably going to be repurposed for something else other than exploring. Maybe mining?

Current feedback is that the AspX is great for the new mining mechanics :)

Like the Orca too though the OP's Beluga looks fabulous!

I left on an expedition on update day. Been a Saud Kruger pilot since the Orca.

My Beluga, the Naked Singularity was built as an exploratory craft long ago. The recent update have only made it better.

And welcome to the top 1% of Explorers out there.

That is a sweet build for the Orca, thanks CMDR. I may have to make some modifications to my current setup for increased range! (I basically A-rated and maxed out every module, except for Life Support and Sensors of course. Even so the jump range is still around 50 Lyrs.) Recently I've been enjoying some long distance passenger runs with her, funny I didn't really enjoy such missions when I started out, but you know, flying the Orca is such a pleasure.

Yeah... what am I gonna do with my AspX? I still love the thing... all my mining I did in a Cutter! Not sure how I'd feel about doing it in a small ship, lol. I will definitely keep it, I guess it will be my trusty old space taxi! 07 CMDR
